Gas Cloud Harvesters - Why...

...why are they considered turrets? (not to mention miners, but that is another issue)...

It seems odd that barges and Exhumers cannot fit these (or regular miners, but why would they since they use a better version - that makes sense)... but gas seems to be an odd thing - unless we get barge/exhumer version of this module? Gas Stripper? - that sounds not so good.

Ok, why CCP can not a ORE ship not mount these? 3 on a hulk seems fine - less than a BC so it's not going to unbalance the gas industry, but the hold size would be a nice plus and also it seems that these would be the very ships that should mount them...

They take turrets to prevent the Drake from being the only ship you ever need to fly in EVE.

That is rediculous - obviously you do not now what your talking about...

1. you can only mount/use max 5 of them on a ship... 1 per level of skill.
2. there are plenty of ships that are bigger with more CPU and cargo than a Drake, and so again that statement was just ignorant.
3. since you can get 1 per skill a hulk is actually a downgrade from a Ferox or other BC/BS with 5 of the - but you get a larger buff cargo out of the deal... longer to harvest but more space for the duration - and since there is no upgrade to use them - 3x and hten the buff from the slot 6 implant is all you get... but...

WHY is a mining harveter not able to be fitting on a mining ship? - this make no sense, even less than the above ignorant post.

Hulk = 3x T2 Harvesters, and then a tank and cargo room to harvest gas in low/null... using combat ships is rather silly given the task and the background... rather like a mining Battleship??? is this really useful? CCP said it wasn't logical and ORE gave use bargest and exhumers and strip miners... yes you can still mine with combat ships but they are not nearly as effective, so why are we using them to gas havest???

Dear Sir,

It has come to our attention at the ACME sarcasm detector corporation that we inadvertently sold you a defective unit. As we feel we have obviously greatly inconvenienced you, and sadly the readers of your posts on the "EVE" forums we wish to extend to you the choice of a replacement unit, or a factory recalibration of your current unit. Obviously at no cost to yourself.

To the readers of said posts we extend a hardy apology for this oversight, and can assure you that the Minmatar slaves who put it together have been reprimanded for their clearly substandard work. Again, we apologize to all who had to read the shitshow that ensued from our defective device.

There really should be a dedicated or bonused gas harvesting ship.

Personally, this is what I use:

I wondered this my self. All i can say is the developer responsible for this device was drunk at the time and just to screw with us players decided that this must be placed on a turret slot, and only one per skill level..
Have a nice day.

I'd probably lobby to make the Retriever (or the barge that comes before that, what's it called? The useless one with 1 turret) outmine battleships before I worried about gas harvesting.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

Clue for you on fittings - 99.99% reduction in the hitting of Gas Harvesters and then you put the CPU or PG up is just one way to keep EVERY ship in the game from mounting it - another would be how they mount the Skiff.... etc... obviously you never really look at this way the game is designed...

Anyone with an intelligent thing to say on this subject? I think we have heard from the shallow end of the gene-pool enough.

Except we all got this one..
CCP says so that is why. No reason for it. They tell you it is a turret, you place it on a ship with a turret slot, you go mine a gas cloud.

It is the way it is and it gives you a reason to have a ferox... though I do prefer my cane for the job Shocked

However, the future should have a dedicated gas miner in it somewhere. I would hope with something like the equivalant of a strip miner. If you have ever sat on a C540 cloud you will now why they are called the clouds of doom.
