Ive had a chat with a couple of ingame buddies, and we came to the conclusion, if CCP was to reset everything, reroll everyones skills to 1m sp., but keep all the patches and updates, delete all sovs and have every player start fresh, things would be much more interesting

Everything gets reset, you are to be allowed to keep 1m sp.

Thoughts?

I thought you quit.. Or i should say please GTFO..

This is a silly idea.
All things equal, those with higher numbers win,
thus goons and TEST will keep kicking.

It would change nothing on the big scale.

Buy Solstice Project for PLEX4GOOD ! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=301266 (this alt-character will get deleted once the sale is done, on 6th of december)

sure would be cool, however they would need to revamp the skilltraining to assure you can trainup your skills faster again... nobody will want to wait for 10 years to have all back...

the game it however would be a lot more exciting, at the moment its kind of stuck, especially in SoV space

Im sorry did you say Test? Test is barely squirming. Much less kicking. I doubt that would change.

Wouldn't change anything. The groups who hold sov out in 0.0, are groups out of game too. You won't break those up. They'll promptly go back in and re-claim their sov. You and you'r five buddies still won't stand a chance.

Even as it is now, SP is not the raw decider of a fight. I go throw down with a 2003 char, only the skills that apply to what we're using matter. If we're both flying cruisers, his skill in, say, Amarr Titan has no application. I might even win, if the 2003 has crap cruiser skills.

All it would do is **** off a bunch of folks, and cause maybe 3-4 days of havoc until everything settled down. Most of the playerbase would quit. EVE would die.

Exactly.
Although it would be fun to watch just how long it DIDN'T take those who dominate the game today from regaining that domination. Like, by the end of the second day.
It's not what stuff and skill points people have, it's the player skill and organization.

Though it would be interesting, certainly for those that have nothing, EvE is all about the continued growth and the achievement of goals. It's one of the main reasons i'm going to be playing for life, as there is always something else to aim towards or achieve, safe in the knowledge that it all adds up to a greater whole. People that have been playing the game since the beginning have all enjoyed this, many of which have ventured out into the universe and put their blood, sweat and tears into achieving their goals, forming grand alliances and pouring hours upon hours of their time and efforts into it. It's practically another job for these players.

So no, i can't say i agree with the idea of CCP hitting a reset button. It would fly in the face of the very core of what EvE stands for.

You'd be better off arguing for the creation of a whole new seperate server that starts anew. Though, the cost and effort that would go into that would probably be enough for CCP to forget that idea. Though, maybe the extra revenue from players paying to play in a new galaxy might offset it......

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

Could be fun, if it was on a separate server. The 1mil SP server. Null sec empty, a big land rush to grab a piece of it. Everybody on an equal footing. No, wait, make that a land rush by Something Awful, Reddit, and other giant out-of-game groups.

EVE would fast die. That's a lot different than "My Charon got ganked" slow dying that EVE has been doing since..I think day 3 of it's existence.

Posting in a not-so-stealth "Older Characters/Players are OP" thread.

First off - no. Just no. Terrible idea.

Secondly, as others have pointed out if you're trying to recreate 2003 EVE you won't, and you can't. Even if you reset everything that sense of discovery that comes with a new game would never be truly restored. You'd just have a bunch of bitter vets with 1mil SP who would still dominate.

SP aren't the problem, organization is. I don't see how resetting everyone to 1mil SP would be the least bit advantageous (not to mention, as others have said, it would literally kill the game).

If your unhappy with the way the game is, try training some new skills and go in a different direction in the game.

I think an Eve-Reloaded would be better to correct the multitude of past errors by game designers, such as...

Number of Super Caps
Isk Printing moon mining mechanic
Isk Printing Tech II BPOs mechanic
Strategic Mobility of Power-Blocs
...and ETC

Once proper mechanics for the above have been implemented, Eve-Reloaded will reset the clock, but still recognize the time, energy and money the older players have put into this game.

Un-allocate all skill points
Refund all skills
Remove all assets from game
Zero out all corporate wallets
Make all personal wallets equal 2.5 times the amount refunded skills.(You had 1 bil isk in skills, you get 2.5 bil in your wallet)
Set time back to zero hour
(The only thing left from before is your character - skill points, organization history, and current organization - No Items of any kind)

Allow players a few days to buy skills and allocate skill points.

Activate the clock and let the land rush begin

Note: Those with the most players and the best organizations will come out on top, so not much will actually change, except maybe correcting for the multitude of past errors by game designers.

About the only thing this would fix is the degree of the imbalance between those who have and those who have not.
You many only have a dozen Titans in-game, but most would still be in the hands of the few
The top few percent of Eve Players would still have the most isk, but the degree would be less
The most powerful orgs would still control the most space, but it would just take longer for them to react to hostiles Strategically.

I must admit, It would be interesting to see how a new Eve would develop after the most serious game design blunders were fixed in this game such as not limiting the number of Titan BPCs available similar to the Sansha super due to the assumption that only a few would ever be able to build a titan.
