The buy out is going to come in time for Star Citizens MMO hitting the market. It's supposed to go live 2014 December. The dogfighting is hitting the shelf this Christmas. To be fair EVE's creators have gotten their moneys worth out of this game. 10 years is a good run but now EVE is old and is just not going to cut it with the new space MMO's that are coming out so a sell out is not a bad idea.

CCP made a few very bad choices ie DUST, world of darkness and some very sketch recruiting choices that have badly shaken the game, a few other game crippling events along the way have not helped matters.

EVE is not shaken. EVE was never in better place. But CCP needs to tighten their ranks and start looking back again on grandious features. I am fine with 1-2 more expansion where CCP will fix industry, UI especially, but enough is enough.

Stop comparing Star Citizens, it is not even a real MMO, plus is pay to win. Backers will have tons of advantage compared to those that will start with a box purchase. There won't be massive battles, no real, player driven economy. Shortly they are 2 completely different games. The only similarity is the space stage.

BALEX, bringing piracy on a whole new level.

Exactly. I know CCP has a good atmosphere to work in but is widely known also that they pay much less than the leading industry organizations. Maybe it is time to step up a bit to retain the talents.

Which may be why ccp has requested or instated a more hands-off the new/noob players (which might be their new, future subscribers), i.e. real $$$. A company can not support it's devs when the masses are 'paying' their plex through ingame isk income; ccp needs the real dosch... maybe i'm wrong... Ugh

What nonsense.

PLEX is market driven within EVE. If there was a bit of a shortage prices would rise encouraging more to buy plex or sub their account with cash relieving the bottleneck.

EVE players act like soccer fans... while they would all switch their employer in an instant if they thought they'd get more money or more interesting work elsewhere, they expect from their player idols (or devs in this case) that they treat their job like a religious affiliation, and accuse them of betrayal when they do not.

People choose their jobs for material gain, for getting ahead and do new and cool things. Many employers even consider it a sign of weakness when you have stayed in the same job for more than seven years.

Unless they are in a null alliance, the majority of eve players have never experienced a massive battle. So putting this as a + in favour of Eve isn't going to help stop them from trying SC

Son, when you start checking api's, you'll see exactly how pervasive GTC purchases/plex sales are. It goes way beyond funding a monthly sub. CCP is thankful for the people in game who purchase plex with isk to sustain the demand for in game plex. A monthly sub is $15. For longer periods it's even cheaper. A plex purchase with isk is the equivalent of ~$19. CCP is very happy indeed with people who sub their game with in-game plex.

Don't ban me, bro!

So... those PLEX were free, then? Where can I get my own free PLEX? Are they seeded in the game by CCP? Where?

Oh... Wait. You mean that those PLEX were originally purchased with real world currencies, which has gone into CCP's pockets? Oh - Why didn't you say that before?

Its good to get outside talent to shake up the game.

It's also poisoning the game when top Devs are /too/ friendly with player groups.

But, they could steer EVE in another direction that none of us actually wants.

Personally, I don't see this working out in the long run and will be selling off characters in alt ACCTS.

The above in bold is what I have some severe issues with and always have since a certain scandal.

Most of what I write in terms of posts and/or comments is meant as "tongue-in-cheek", i.e. part irony, part sarcasm but meant in good fun.

On a more serious note. I want to marry CCP karkur. Is there a EVE dating service I can call?

You are.

Since every PLEX that players buy in game has been bought from CCP (directly or indirectly) for real "dosch" in the first place.

People, relax.

One high profile CCP leaving is just a normal thing in the industry.
Two leaving in close proximity to each other is just co-incidence, or good poaching by Riot.

Now, if we get a 3rd leaving very soon, then we may have a trend on our hands, and some fun speculation can begin.

+1

in fact, CCP makes mroe money off plex as 2 subscriptions cost less than 1 GTC.

the more of CCP's current Devs and Managerial staff that moves on or gets dumped the better, this game is sick-broken and needs a serious influx of new and more qualified talent.

And if CCP gets bought out by some other company that will just hasten improvements to this borked up game.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.
