Got bored and looked at eve-offline.net

It seems that activity on tranquility is declining again if you look at the "all time" graph

I know that eve-offline isn't the perfect indicator of where EVE is going. But I am curious as to why this may be the case.

Kids back at school or university.
Realise that they should bother about RL.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

My guess is that it's something that generally happens from update to update. People flow in at first, then some of them go back to RL when new stuff isn't new for them anymore.

Posting in yet another stealth eve is dying thread.

Look at the figures one month after release of the winter expansion to see if there is a downward trend.

Also. Does anyone know if the numbers for TQ on eveoffline include Dust players?

I think it does for the newborn player graph.

In addition to "Summer is over" remember that we had a major war. Idle accounts were activated to provide cynosural, extra guns for structure bashing, logistics, whathaveyou. Now that things have quietened down there is no need for that third cyno alt or that second jump freighter pilot. So a few accounts go dark again.

I don't get it. Every year this topic pops-up again and again.

If it's summer on the top part of the globe and subscriptions decline people here say, it because of the summer, people go out, have vacation, enjoy the sun. And when the summer has ended and the subscription numbers decline people say here that it's because schools/work started again.

Now what is it? Straight

you are a bit early, it probably is just the usual cycle like the others have said.

but it looks like they don't like alts anymore and you can get banned for even telling someone truthfully that you are your own alt.

that’s going to put a serious dent in subscriber numbers soon if they keep that change. and especially if they keep claiming that there wasn't even a change.

i don't even waste my time with scamming but this is taking away the foundation of everything that eve is and i sure will not resub if they start going down this road

like always: eve is dying. only that this time it might actually be true :(

btw, dear reading GM: i am in no way associated with the OP or anyone else in this thread or in eve or in the world ever (i guess i need to make this a signature soon)

Houm...

Interanual variation is on the positive (we got more PCU than last year in the same dates), so that's OK by a small margin.
New born chars are slightly down, though.

DUST 514 PCC is steadily going down.

Serenity PCU is stable.

No signs for worries about EVE, albeit obviously it could use a clear upward trend, provided the aggressive recruiting campaigns going on. Maybe the Hallellujah Plan will help that as it's revealed.

How can you draw any conclusion about subscribtions loss when looking at the online players graph?

What that graph tells me is that activity drops a bit below average at about this time every year.

They probably aren't decreasing — more likely, they're just not increasing at the same rate. We've had a period of pretty steady numbers compared to last year, and back then we had a number of very popular patches that spiked the numbers more than what the normal seasonal behaviour would suggest.

Historically there's always a dip in numbers around the end of summer and then we've always seen growth leading up to, and following the winter expansion.

Numbers have never been higher than post Odyssey ;)

I actually just want to say thanks for the response, not many companies would just tell their customers stuff like this as it requires a certain level of trust that people wont over react.

That's why it's a shame that EVE is clearly dying.
