An example of a big gap. "What do I do with things I salvage from a ship?" Turns out that the tutorial never talks about this, you cannot reprocess them, and the low level rigs market in starter regions basically has nothing for sale that would indicate this makes sense (and how the merchants take advantage of this)... If you know this, you can actually fly to a trade hub, grab some copies, and actually make money selling those rigs. More than you'd make just selling the trash, remarkably.

But I only found that by pure luck. You can google for certain keywords and their responses are not helpful. I eventually figured it out by reading up on salvaging, which is not actually what I would have expected (I googled the category name and the first 5 hits were useless).

Ah, but you see, that's the beauty of it. It's more about game knowledge than actual SP of the players in involved. A pilot with 15m in bought character SP could have the same issue as you, and still not know how to overcome it. It's a bit unfortunate in a way that CCP does not give you full tutorials to everything, BUT, it does makes your efforts to learn to get one up over the competition more worth it.

Anyway, if you have a tutorial for every single aspect of EVE, newbies would be stuck running tutorials for about 1 month solid :D

Why do people turn into condescending jerks when someone threatens their fanboyness? Jesus Christ. Just because I don't enjoy one aspect of the game does not mean you have to try and insult my intelligence. If you can't answer a question on a "newb" forum thread without being a total ****, then you shouldn't hang out in the newbie threads in the first place.

Its people like you that give us fun! Cry in local/by evemail.... Ive done both heavy PVE and heavy PVP, i just prefer pvp and do pve to support pvp, Ive never been ganked, because im never worth ganking/never annoyed anyone enough to be worth ganking, but when i die, i dont complain, instead i go back and try again. http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=1012396 i have i guess a few kills, and fewer deaths(success). Most of that stuff was in fleets, solo i need to work on xD

I would carry on playing, and just dont be a 20 bill freighter autopiloting, or an afk miner, or explo in a busy lowsec/nullsec area....but above all, dont annoy anyone(or try not to) as people will hunt you down, if not themselves, they will hire mercs to war dec your corp, and hunt your friends too, just for fun.

What really IS there to do in EVE? It just seems like a big time sink if it's just a pvp oriented game. Some of us want to go out and explore and not get camped, some of us DON'T WANT to pvp and we shouldn't be forced into it.

The answer to your question is :

You can do trading or industry dude. Have fun.

"Feels like there is only PVP..." -- that's because there is.

Consider, of course, that the concept of PvP extends beyond killmails and ransoms, gate-camps and blobs. It's anything that you want to do (as defined as a part of who you want to be) that conflicts with the desires of any other player. If someone else finds the site you're exploring, they can PvP without ever firing a shot.

There is nothing in this game that exists independently of scarcity. Figuring out how to get what you want is its own reward and is made all the sweeter as the number of people who also want it increases.

Best way to enjoy eve is to join a corp. You will learn everything you need to know to keep you safe in a decent corp. Those getting ganked are because they flying with ships with expensive mods and not paying attention, or hauling expensive cargo in an untanked ship. I flew around in bling'd out tengu for 2 years, was worth over 2 bil in fits.. and I still have it, not nearly as expensively fit now.

Eve is an MMO.

But everyone is free to play it as they wish, including as a single player.

As long as they remember that they have chosen to play an MMO alone.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
