[Blog Post] IRL: Coffee's 9-11 Speech

I was asked to speak during the ceremony today. Someone wanted to hear the speech but I never did get copies of the video or audio.

Instead, I threw it up on the blog site under the "IRL" heading. Feel free to imagine me either sweaty and panicky or furiously pounding the podium while reading this - I'm sure it was one or the other.

BONUS: Picture of Coffee on the beach (that's for Sindell Pellion wink wink).

Nice post i must say.

But i hope you dont still sport that haircut.

In the IDF regs had us keeping our hair short and fuzzy.

Oh the fun we had with static.

I keep my hair about the same these days. I'm a veteran/civilian now - got my honorable discharge in 2008 after 4 years active and one active-reserve. If I remember right, the US Coast Guard regs on the hair was 1) less than 1.5 inches in length; 2) does not fall below tops of ears, collar, or eyebrow; 3) sideburns didn't extend past earlobe (basically, mine in the pic there were as long as you could get away with).

I'd like to believe I was the unit's PITA, but got away with (most) shenanigans because I made myself the go-to guy. Command will be lenient on someone's BS if you know your **** and can be expected to get it done ahead of schedule and better than required.

That said, the IDF is like.... 4 Coast Guardsmen and 6 Marines rolled into a ball of badass and dipped in liquid awesome. US Military have a lot of professional respect for you folks.
