Invention: BPC T2 gives only 1 run, not the 10 runs I expected

Having read up on invention I decided to give it a go.
I bought a module BPO from NPC, copied it to give a BPC T1 of 10 runs; then invented it without decryptor.
I got back a 1 run module BPC T2 (100 max run), but was expecting a 10 run BPC as the guides suggest.

Where did I go wrong?

You have to use a MAX RUN BPC to get a 10-Run-T2 on modules

afaik are max runs on modules at 300

Quite probably the most asked invention question.

EVElopedia - Invention - Invention BPC Runs

EVElopedia wrote:
Thus, for optimal number of output runs when inventing ships or rigs, use:

* 1-run input BPCs when not using a decryptor, or using a decryptor that does not modify the number of runs

* Max Run input BPCs when using a decryptor that modifies the number of runs

When inventing modules, ammunition and other non-ship or rig items, its is worthwhile to use maximum run input BPCs to get a T2 BPC with most possible runs.

Your question has been answered adequately but I thought I should add something.

You should calculate the invention and manufacturing cost per run, when inventing with a max run BPC, using each type of available decryptor. You will find some items are cheaper to produce when using no decryptor, thus producting ME -4 BPCs, however a significant number favour using decryptors to produce favourable ME.

The cost per run is important, not just the number of runs you get from invention.
