How do the NPC names get picked?

I was just trying to link my name, and noticed "Falopadous Jagare" I speak Swedish and know that Jagare means hunter...

But none the less, It appears an NPC is named after me? How does this work??

Hmm, that's pretty strange. I believe the more important NPCs were named by the devs. I'd heard that most of the ordinary station agent NPCs have randomly-generated names (each race using a different set of syllables that are randomly combined).

I've never heard of a player character's name somehow migrating over to become an NPC's name. Is there some obscure Falopadous in fiction or media somewhere that could have subconsciously inspired both you and a dev?

My aliiance placed 4th in the AT9 in which i participated... That may have something to do with it.

But Falopadous name comes from a friend literally saying random syllables when i created the account... I don't think they're any names Falopadous would be associated with outside of eve.

Well, I've something along the lines of what Sam wrote, and I've been naming some of my crew members, and actually throwing together syllables used in the constellation they come from does create EVE-ish sounding names.
So that's how I name my NPCs at least.
