I dont see this doccumented anywhere but how was eve when servers started up.

How was it the first few months market wise, Building up from nothing and having to seed everything?

How long did it take for ships to get seeded since people had to build from noobships then buy the Blueprints?

Was nullsec accessable day one?

How buggy was it?

No tracking, no stacking penalties, Concord was tankable, No level 4 missions, no mining barges, a few thousand systems fewer, super highways, you could launch your entire drone bay, no capital ships, no t2 anything.

It was a time of multiple MWD Ravens, armageddons with nothing but heat sinks in the lows and MWDing orbiting frigates getting blapped at 1km ranges.

Everybody who could would log in immediately after downtime to sell their minerals at the refreshed NPC buy orders. Could not access Market while undocked.

Also, the tutorial consisted of you sitting in your ship, mining an asteroid and capturing(!) a drone. Later, the tutorial agent would send you 40 jumps away to the other end of the cluster.

Just a few days before release in open beta, my ship got stuck with another players; when I warped he would be dragged along and vice versa. Spend ten minutes ping-ponging between station and gate.

I heard rummors about ships that could be as fast as 1000000 metres a second. Shocked

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Was null sec there from the beginning?

Must have felt awsome to be one of the first to settle there in this empty space

Yes

What there wasn't at the beginning was Black Rise region and WH space.

Edit: Was the Drone space accessible at launch? I think it was there but it was not accessibIe. I really can't remember anymore, getting old I suppose...

Aie, yeah. When you had an op in a new region, everyone got a new set of warp-to-zero bookmarks, 15km behind the gate.

Also, no interdictors or other bubbles.

Torpedoes did splash damage, and often got people CONCORDed.

Battleships were king, early on-- they'd tear apart whatever cruisers they met, and most people were stuck in the smaller ships given how much expense there was in buying a BPO and doing the construction. Even with inflation, I think BS prices aren't too far off what they were at the start.

Also, mineral prices -- at least the lowends -- were about half of what they are now. On the flipside, the high-ends were a lot more valuable, also.

The market was basically run by npcs in the early days, so it was possible to buy some stuff which npcs no longer sell now.

It took us (5-10) about a month I think to be able to afford/use a Cruiser BPO. Cruisers were a major investment in the first couple of months and few people had more than one or two. There were no larger ships in game than cruisers for the first 2-3 months.

Nullsec existed from day 1 but the only people who went there were ratters looking for the unbalanced mods they'd seen during beta - m0o for example were out there looking for stamped heatsinks/etc for use in the later player ganks which made them famous. Lots of nullsec as it appears now simply didn't exist and the richest area in the game was Stain.

So after a week or so CCP moved all the "rare" ores out to null - previously you could mine them in Empire. Worked for a short while and hasn't changed a lot since other than the miners all changed to being pvp'rs/ratters.

Highsec at the start looked fairly similar but with notable exceptions (Sarum Prime being lowsec for example) but its pretty much back where they started - superhighways and crap like that were around for a while over the years.

What exactly is a superhighway? And do you have a pic of early eve map that shows the regions?
