Just had a proper look at the new warp tunnel, specifically going through planets. Absolutely jaw dropping - especially where you can see space opening out infront of you just before you leave the planet behind.

A bit of critical feedback:

The distortion effect looks fantastic when it's filtering stars and the nebulae/backgrounds, but it's just too strong on planets as you fly past them (not through them). Maybe the distortion amount should vary according to the brightness of what it is filtering? Or vary it according to how fast you're actually travelling (i.e. less when accelerating/decelerating than at full warp)?

Engine trails show in normal flight, but not in warp. Why is this? If you had to choose, I'd have thought it would be the other way around. Can we have two options in the Esc menu for engine trails: one for normal flight and another for in warp? I for one would love to see them while warping, but not the rest of the time (I appreciate that I'm probably in a minority, but that's what options are for, right?)

Warp Tunnel = EPIC EPIC EPIC. Very fine work.

Engine Trails = Sploosh. I missed them so much.

Dunno but it always looks like the engines turn themselves off once the warp tunnel has been opened. The trails are the interaction between the sub-light drives and normal space .. accelerating and turning incandescent the sparse molecules in your ship's wake. Inside your warp tunnel there is nothing to interact with. Roll

Good point, seems trails are in place during normal flight, and should be not visible during warp

Wow. This new stuff really does look good!

Holy moley, that new warp tunnel effect is amazing (and also very Dr Who-esque).

And finally, engine trails have returned. I missed them.

Wonders if drones got thier trails back as well.

It be also odd if missiles got them as well but not sure if thats going to be lag tastic or not.
