EFT and EVEMon on linux

I run Eve with linux and, right now, everything has been fairly smooth with only a few hickups. One weird problem I have is that the only thing visible of characters are their heads, hands, and feet, and anytime entering the captain's quarters results in a crash of wine. Otherwise, the only other issue I have is this stupid freaking launcher. I just read something about being able to bypass that entirely, which is what I think I'm gonna do.

Also....I can't find a way to get EFT or EveMon to work on Linux either. Anyone know of any linux tools like this or? Anything?

In theory, both of these applications should work through WINE. However...

I hear reports of PYFA working on Linux, it's like EFT. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=247609 (Must compile)

Also, evething might be a suitable replacement for evemon, but not nearly as good for the purpose built task of tracking skills, but it does a LOT of other things.

Seconded on Pyfa. GtkEveMon will provide a pretty minimal set of training planning/monitoring functions, but lacks the various auxiliary functions of EveMon.

Also, CQ + Wine = crash is a long-standing issue.

I've been using Aura on my phone for the last year or so. Doesn't do remap optimization or any of the really cool EVEMon features, but it serves as a reminder and a "Hmm, I wonder how long this would take" gimmick.

Compile? You just run the script.

But yes, it works perfectly. No fiddling. Just remember to install the dependencies.

If you're running an Arch based distro, Pyfa is in the AUR!

What's wrong with EFT under wine suddenly? The only problems I ever had with it were the occasional right clicks on modules stopping working, which is easily fixed with a right click in the blank space below the ship's slots.

Nothing, I guess (I used it for the longest time). But PyFa works natively.

EveMon works under Wine just fine, however you need PlayonLinux (Wine frontend which helps a lot with managing multiple prefixes and stuff) for that (easier .NEt 4.0 installation):

1. Install www.playonlinux.com
2. Create fresh Wineprefix in it
3. Install .NET 4.0
4. Install Evemon
5. Enjoy :)

It's almost as easy as that, however, you need to chose a 32bit version of wine, as .NET will not install in a 64it wine.

Who would want to use EFT, when you can run pyfa without wine?

(I can live without having evemon, and if I couldn't, virtualbox win8 here)

GTKevemon is a good programm. But how the hell do I delete a skill from main training plan? :-D

Do you mean a single skill in your time line?
Simplify uncheck the checkbox on the left side. But keep in mind, GtkEveMon resolves the dependencies automatically.
This means:
If you try to remove the "Large Hybrid Turret V" skill but have on the same time "Large Railgun Special. III" on your plan, it makes no sense to remove the "needed" skill.

I hope it helps. :-)

Hm, some skills are boxed, some not
When I click on the checkbox, some for skills without depencies, GTKevemon delets a lot of skills, not only this one.

Yes, this is because you didn't set your skills explicit on your "wish list" (the checked one on your training plan).
For example:

-Large Hybrid Turret I
-Large Hybrid Turret II
-Large Hybrid Turret III
-Large Hybrid Turret IV
+Large Hybrid Turret V
If we remove the last skill ( + ) GtkEveMon removes all skills.

-Large Hybrid Turret I
-Large Hybrid Turret II
+Large Hybrid Turret III
-Large Hybrid Turret IV
+Large Hybrid Turret V
If we remove the last skill ( + ) GtkEveMon removes only the unneeded skills (in this case "Large Hybrid Turret IV").
