All I want is Mo sec [CCP adding new systems!]

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

It doesn't, those guys are just roleplaying a bit using ganking and extortion as interaction devices. You see, lots of players are all uber-serious about their mining ships and offer hilarious conversational material when ganked or extorted. It's a form of interaction they enjoy, and they have the freedom to do so, just like you have the freedom to do whatever you want. And that includes stomping over someone else's sandcastles.

Apparently there are few rules, I'm ok with that, I'm not much on rules anyway as Selina can attest to. The fun part of this experience is I'm learning a lot, even now. You nice people have bestowed pearls of wisdom upon me in our conversation here.

Racketeering, extortion, ganking, pirating. It's all good by me.

I believe everyone should be able to do what ever it is they want as long as that does not interfere with others to do the same.

I think it will be an interesting time when some of us meet.

As many others pointed out, its a sandbox, and everyone is entitled to try play as they choose, but that said, some may chose to have a difrent opinion then you, and thus their vision of eve, colide with yours, personaly i think its the beuty and thrill of eve.

And welcome to Eve, mining is a very good thing to do when your new, its probably the safest, and most boring thing to do, but it will give you the isk you need when your new, though, try be open to test other things as well... Exploring is also a great way, its alittle like a box of choclates, some days you will find nothing, but other days you get a few radar stations and the milions pile up fairly fast... Trading as suggested is also a good fairly safe thing to do, a great tool is http://eve-central.com/ with this you see wht is payed/cost of items, and then you can try min max your gain by buying cheap and flying it to where they pay better, etc... Security Missions in high, dosent really pay well till you can do lvl4s, but then their like mining, a steady and secure source of income, i have got scrapmetal refining, so have no waste when i break down modules i loot, and the salvage from defeated ships, sell well, for exampel armor plates at moment is very high... and save the meta4 modules you find, some of the meta4 modules are better then T2, and great to fit ships when you decide to test your wings in low or null, or sell for a profit... but dont get stuck, and dont listen to either highsecers or lowseccers, make up your own mind, the truth of things, is somewhere in the middle ! ;P

And finally a few tips, dont fly what you cant afford to loose, dosent matter were you are, you can get deaded, if its a bad day, andthe stars are aligned in your favour lol... secondly, if you mine, and feel threatened, take a look at the procurer or skiff, their very fast, have amacing tank, gankers will most likely ignore you or try gank you last, also, when you get your drone skills up, you bascially just need one hobgoblin to deal with rats, the other four, have four EC-300 Hornet, its ecm drones that break their lock, >might< save your tushie, in any case, good luck out there and fly safe but most of all have funs !

By definition, Racketeering, extortion, ganking and pirating involve at least 2 players, 1 perpetrator and 1 victim. Someone doing what they want may directly interfere with the other person, i.e. pirate happens upon a victim, in the process of a ransom, another unaffiliated pirate comes along and pops both of them.

You'd have to work hard and keep on the ball to avoid interference from other players.

Actually quite pleased to see one of these threads expressing confusion and a desire for understanding rather than outrage. Salvaging wrecks in the wake of ganks can be quite lucractive also for a newer player. This also can be entertaining if you make a habit of it and the local miners figure out what you're up to. Just showing up in a belt can start to give them the willies after that.
Data and Relic sites also might be worth checking into. Courier missions to get standing up quickly to gain access to better missions. Or you could choose to hoist the Jolly Roger and start into a life of crime yourself. Plenty of choices to be had, and I think with what you've shown so far you'll do fine once you get your bearings. Just don't get discouraged.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Hi all,

Please excuse my ignorance in some of these matters as I am a newcomer to EvE.

I've been reading a lot about how to get people to 0.0 and low sec and how many people stay in high sec. I see a lot of posts about people getting ganked and I even met someone last night claiming to represent the "New Order" where you must pay for protection...isn't that mafia?

To be completely honest here. What gives anyone the right to determine what I do with my monthly $$$$ and my enjoyment of the game. I mean if I want to spend all my time mining in highsec, what should it matter to someone in 0.0 or low sec.

If I have a 50mil isk mining ship, I wouldn't take it to low sec without bringing along some company along.

I guess what I am saying as a newb, I don't get the whole argument about why gankers really want to press on miners in highsec. I pay my monthly fee to play like everyone else, why does it matter at all what I choose to do?

the best thing to do whid gankers is just to ignore them, the same to demand of protection monny dont iven replay to them.
