Anyone else experience this? I've been running EVE under Wine for a while now, close to a year. Its running on a Linux Mint box, no changes to the OS at all in recent history. After the latest patch, audio just stopped working entirely. Its still there in the user preferences, I can enable/disable, I can modify volume bars for each section of volume types, but I hear nothing.

Audio in general works fine on the box, mumble is still cool, youtube vids, etc, EVE seems to be the only thing that's stopped working. Wondering if there's some weird setting that I might be overlooking?

Try checking out alsamixer. Sometimes it gets messed with a bit and will get muted for some silly reason.

I did experience that way back when I first set things up, and did check that recently but all seems fine. When I had issues with ALSA in the beginning it was a system-wide problem. I hesitated at first to even specify that "only wine stuff has sound borked", but I wanted to test at home first. I am home, and did test, and in fact other wine apps play sound just fine (even from the same wine prefix as EVE).

Its a bit strange...But yeah alsamixer looks fine, nothing muted.

Obligatory "EVE has audio?" meme.

Ok, I had to write that. Back in my corner... :D

I was one of those people for years... until I moved into a wormhole. ;)

Must be able to hear hole activations!

I would confirm that it's using the right audio device then. There are usually a few audio devices that eve chooses from, maybe it's on the wrong one?

The other solution is delete your prefs file and hope it comes back. (or move it out of the way, try it, and hten move it back if it fails to work after the reset)

Yep that got it working. I did verify the correct device listed in the EVE client, I ended up just nuking everything in the CCP folder and re-installing, all was fine with sound after that. Now to recover all my overview and bookmark folders and what-not. :)

Thanks for the tips!!
