Hi!

Is there a way to copy/paste the Market Quickbar between toons of diferent accounts. I suppose one would have to go peek inside the definitions folders, but I have no idea how they work or if even is possible.

Anyone knows?

Many thks!

I personally can't recommend touching any files in the client:

Client modification, the EULA and you

Even if a false detection is made, it just isn't worth the hassle of a homogeneous UI. Trust me.

Ignore these people.

The .dat file is generated by the client and saves your preferences, eg.. UI layout, market quickbar and your 'do not ask again' options.

As the policy states.. which people totally do not read.. Client Modification.. this would mean editing, modifying, changing the client files.

Copying the user preferences (.dat) files to another directory is NOT against the EULA, NOR is it classed as a client modification.

Most players do this, especially those with more than one account!. Why would you want to go through all your settings again?.

So, just copy/paste file and rename from the toon with the quickbar I want, to the core_user[eve user id renamed].dat

Will give it a shot. Many thks!

Interesting, black & white from Tau, and shades of grey from Waffle.

Technically changing the name of the file is required so it is being modified, Tau is right.

As the change is not "malicious" and may or may not be classified like the cache scraping, Waffle is probably also right but if they have ways of flagging any changes and initiating ban-hammers, I would file a petition to be sure.

Open up evemail, hold shift and select everything in you quickbar / quickbar folder and drag into eve-mail and send to new toon. Then on new toon just go trough list quickly and add everything to market quickbar.

Takes like 5min unless you have a ridiculous amount of folders.

It does require modifying the file, however it is not a game client file, but a user preferences file saved in a separate directory.

I do not see how this could be interpreted as a EULA violation. In layman's terms the game client files are the files located in the main game directory, this is usually located in C:program files/CCP/EVE or what ever directory you installed the game to.

Files that are saved in the user document files are not considered part of the game client. modifying these files can not affect the game client, only the user preferences within the parameters set out by the game client.

A game client modification is when you make a modification that causes the game client to perform in a way other than intended. this is not restricted to modifications that affect other players but also client side modifications that only affect the host client.

And example of this is the ever popular nude mods available for so many other MMO's, or say a mod that makes the Dominix look like an actual potato, not just the vague similarity the actual model has. Such things do not affect the game in a negative way, or have any affect on the clients of other players, but are still in violation of the game EULA. Even though such mods are essentially harmless, they do change or affect the game client. An example of how a client side graphics mod can be used to give a player an unfair advantage would be one I recall from SWG. There was a mod that turned all NPC's into Ewoks, making it much easier to pick out player characters in a crowd of NPC's in a warzone/PVP area.

Copying user preferences from one character to another, even on separate accounts is not game client modification, as it does not affect the performance of the game client or access game client files in any way. The files located at C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\ or equivalent directory are not game client files. They are user preference files, and do not affect the performance of the game client in any way.

Thank you CCP Peligro.

Oh wait... mistaken identity. Scratch that.

I recommend you petition a GM for an official reply, which cannot be discussed. Also keep a copy of the reply on hand for out-of-game access should you need to submit it to CCP in the future. Rest assured CCP will thoroughly investigate all claims, no matter how long it takes.
