An option to turn it off would be satisfactory, as long as it didn't affect other effects, such as painters, cap transfer/neuts, remote rep etc.

I disagree in removing the effect completely. It gives the feeling that a fleet is battle ready and ready to blow up some stuff. And the effects by stacking with each other also gives the feeling that a fleet is a big one mass. Somehow like that:

But I agree that separating the toggle function from the other effects is a good idea.

Effects that could be toned down or changed completely:

1. Sensor Booster
2. ECCM Modules
3. Tracking Computer

Effects themselves could be changed to something more pleasant and less noticeable, or the opacity could be halved from the current implementation.
Same with the sound effects, I feel this is distracting and breaking of the immersion in the game.

The older effects were decent especially the pulsating ring from the Sensor Booster.
I challenge the CCP Developers to sit in a ship with all 3 modules running for more then 2 minutes to experience this for themselves.

Yes, this is a stupid argument to keep them.

I know it would take a little while, not that damn long.. especially not with the new skins, but I have an idea. Off the top of my head, every single ship has some antennas, or some area on the ship that serves as the electronics area. Make said modules have a glowing effect on those parts of ships only. Similar to the armor hardener effect or armor rep effect. Something that is identifiable.

ppl in battle needs to see which pilot is using which module so that they can make tactic about who to kill when...
so... no nerfing of effects...

It's useful to be able to see if someone is sensor boosting. It's just way too big though. There was a time when they had the current effect, but it didn't go all over the screen when you zoomed out, it was much smaller. Also the older one with the blue circles was pretty cool.

would be cool to reuse the sebo effect for the dscan. every time you hit scan you see a bright pulse. Other than that... remove it :)

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

That would b e the perfect solution, subtle, yet noticable if you look for it and even better lookign than it's current implementation.
But while you are woking on it CCP, pelase turn it down, or give us am option.

Why does it even need a visual effect. It's not even that important of a module.

It is, when you are examining a camp with a covert ops, you want to know how they are fit, if they have sebos, you can just how they are fit accordingly. There are a many good uses for the effects but everyone whining are the blobbers who don't need em.

I support this!

On my old computer it was the reason, why I had to always turn off brackets, because that effect from a whole fleet of sensor boosted ships, turned the FPS on my screen in a slomo slide show - horrible lag. It kills performance so badly.

It was one of the many steps backwards, compared to how useful and clear old effects were.

However I agree that effect is need. Like Messoroz said, it is important to estimate, how dangerous a gate camp is, whether tehy can catch somebody or not. Just hte rate of blinking is way too fast and x100 or more ships with it give you eye cancer and make old PCs unhappy, if you are zoomed out a little. It is just horrible. The slow cercles of light waves, which used to come out of the shp in the old effect, were better.

+1 agreed, and get rid of the sound effect too!

The old sensor booster effect was much, much better (both aurally and visaully)...

Agreed. Or, at least, alpha fade the thing so it's not overwhelming... a slight spacial distortion instead of 1970's night in the officer's mess...
