Adding a Country Flag Icon to Characters

To get a better idea where a player is from I suggest Country Flag Icon be placed beside the characters Name in the Character Information dialogue box.

The Country Flag would be relative to the characters IP address and could not be altered.

The Country Flag Icon would help CEO's determine where their corporation members are from as well as rooting out the liars and nutters who say they are from said country but are really not.

I like this idea.

But then again, maybe it is better to need to ask someone instead of automatically knowing... perhaps it would lead to less player interaction as players shun others who are not from their own country?

Nah... still like it.

Not really Spy 21. Its more of a tool for the CEO's and Directors of a corporation to be able to effectively communicate with the members of a corporation just as it will make corporation member communication between each other more effective as members will know where other members are from instead of making it up thus creating a much deeper sense of trust and cohesiveness within the corporation.

Get everyone in your corp to hop into Ts3 and there you go, nice shiny flags which never lie.

All good yes...
Actually I was thinking more of interaction with total strangers...
Recruiting, saying hey in low sec etc.... might not make that effort to begin with if the player is from a different culture/langquage...

However, part of what I like about suggestion is that players from different regions some times like to start communities based on their homelands...

I too think all the American/Russian/Mexican/South-American/Muslim/German/French haters and/or racists should have clear well-defined targets for their poorly-educated rage.

I tried to list that in most-to-least order of random hate I've already had the joy to see, but I've doubtless missed more than a few and some may be out of order. If we're lucky (and we would be) people might even use this to (poorly) extrapolate other things to hate on, like religious status, wealth, and skin color! Who wouldn't want that, right?!

For the massively dense, there have been generous doses of sarcasm above.
Basically, no.

Could I set my flag to north korea, or would it be fixed? Roll

Why is this a good idea? It encourages racism.

Am I the only one who finds that the people with the best English are the on native speakers who keep apologising for their accents?

There is no reason to do this other than set stereotypes and encourage racism, as mentioned TS3 is a good tool to see if someone is a good fit for your corporation or not. There are also numerous tools that utilize the API system to check against a history of the character and you can check public kill-boards as well.

in the end if someone is smart/dedicated to infiltrate your corp there is nothing you can do about it. Asking CCP for personal identifiable information from their clients (in some countries against the law) is plain silly.

Use the tools you already have and fix your own stupidity by checking up on characters, you are in the end solely responsible for letting people into your corp in the first place.

You got issues.

One is new fangled technology called VPN. Google it. It would be how companies who do not like it when I come from a Japan based IP suddenly get all happy when they see I magically now have an IP from sunny california when they read it.
I turn on my strong vpn and even credit card clearing is happy.

2nd....some players actually travel. Work or pleasure they cross timezones and country borders often. I live in Japan but visited the states for 2 months this year. Gratz Colombo, your flags caught me.....on stateside hops. You are still playing the asking 20 questions anyway with this.

3rd...wtf good does this do since some people don't work 9 to 5. US flagged player playing in the prime time of europe or pre-dt oceanic. YOu got a spyzor and you nabbed him. Good job again Colombo. There is no chance whatsoever this player works 2nd or 3rd shift and his times are odd, right? You could you know....jsut ask this dude right now to solve this mystery.

So in the last couple of years I would have been from Australia, the UK, the US (several times), Canada, Spain, Singapore, India and a couple other places I can't remember. Ah yes, Germany and Switzerland.

Nice plan, OP. We aren't all as insular as you.
