Low sec POS requirements ?

What does it take to setup POS in low sec?

- do you need to contact local pirates to get their approval to setup one?
- is it better to choose a pocket system to setup one since they tend to have lower activity than low sec connected systems?
- How does it go for corps lower than 10 members?
- If all above failed to achieve or resolved is it better to go under low sec alliance or joining aren't free ones like this?

Why low-sec particularly?

If standing is an issue you could save yourself a load of headaches by using a standing increasing service that are often advertised in the sell orders forum.

If it's because you want to go down the drugs route then I think you need 0.3 or lower.

Personally I wouldn't bother asking pirates for permission, they're pirates Pirate, not exactly honorable people Twisted.

If it's for research etc then I wouldn't entertain a low-sec pos myself.

I might not be clear of my purposes to setup one in low sec, but as partially you said it will be for drug manufacturing, capital manufacturing and may be moon mining (even if it's low income but yet passive steady income). I'm just exploring the possibilities and difficulties to achieve this goal.

Part of my wondering about low sec POSes is that I found 100% full indy corps having low sec POSes and they have almost 0 harassment from local pirates, they still get blown up from time to time but they never got their POSes decimated by couple of dreads just because someone has extra free time to do that, so what's the catch ?

I know nothing about moon mining, but from what I read, the chances of finding (and keeping) a moon that will cover costs could be quite slim.

Capital manufacturing is an option, but pirate activity can make it *interesting* getting stuff to your pos. You could end up getting the ok from the local pirates, but then things change overnight, they might find a new place to live and you're back at the start again.

On the other hand, it's not a massive investment setting a large tower up with the arrays etc, so go for it, what's the worst that can happen :)

A corpmate setup 2 large Caldari reaction towers in lowsec. Within 24 hours they were reinforced and subsequently destroyed.

He then talked with the locals. They had a simple demand: the POSes must not attack them.

We set them blue. He anchored 10 towers, and did reactions (carbides) until it wasn't profitable anymore.

Ya, I'd recommend contacting the locals and making a deal of some sort.

It's always a good idea to make friends with the locals if you need to come/go from lowsec and have assets there. I've not done much with lowsec pos's in recent years but if you are intending to do drug/capital manufacturing at a pos, pick a moon with no value so that other parties have no reason to want that moon. This at least removes one reason for getting blown up.

Also capitals/drugs/ships if sold to locals at good prices can be a great way to help your safe tenancy in an area, it's probably the best reason to let Indy corps stick around in fact lol.

Good luck.
