No.

Why?

Taranis.

Dominix.

Meaningful fitting choices.

and

Unrepaired "battle scars" damage.

And this is where I lost it.

I have survived many fights in hull.
I'd be more interested in seeing modules getting damaged once you're in hull.
But I don't think ship stats should be affected.

I can see it now, roughly 2 years down the road, a new expansion hits adding realistic damage to the game.

As holes are punctured into your hull you see your crew and internal parts being vented out into space. The men and women that once served under you flail for only a moment or two until slowly stopping, their expressions blank in the cold abyss. They were the lucky ones though.

Most are trapped inside the burning hull, you hear the echo of screams coming from deep inside the ship as the burn alive. An option comes up to mute exterior audio but you decline, this is your price for failing them. Suddenly you remember that you were shipping boxes of kitten and new born puppies and quickly switch your internal feeds to the cargo bays only to see there dead frozen corps's floating almost peacefully in the absent gravity. You slam back to reality as you begin to align to jump out of this damned system, but realize that the ship can no longer make jumps, she is basically scrap metal at this point. The battle was won but the ship was still lost, and the dead around you will no longer help the living. You listen for moment to the crew, the screams are beginning to become fainter, most of them are gone now.

You activate the self destruct, a quicker end for those still suffering you tell yourself, almost believing the lie. The countdown starts, in the time remaining you watch as your ship sheds hull into the void and then close your eyes.

Suddenly you wake up again, a new clone. Your mind is lost as you walk around you quarters, are you still out there? Still out there with your mortal crew drifting silently in space? Your eyes drift lazily around the room and you notice something on the table. Is that? It is! it is some MOTHER ******* CAPTAIN CRUNCH! HELL YEAH YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL IS JUST WHAT YOU NEED IN A TIME LIKE THIS!!!! YOU TAKE OFF YOUR PANTS AND BEGIN ATTACKING THAT ****!!! OOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM!!!!

Yeah. "The target."

In any way, visual battle damage: YES. Totally yes.

And I mean like "Get your artists to design us some burning spaceships". The fights you survive in hull tend to be epic and memorable, make ships look like they've gone through something epic too.

Targeting specific modules is an interesting idea, though at this moment it's already done in another way (ECM vs. Targeting, Neuting vs. anything that uses cap) and I'm pretty sure people would figure out what to target first as a "the quickest way to win this".

While were at it can we make tiny rounds bounce off thick armor, medium rounds dent it and big rounds penetrate right through size relative ofc. Also if one side of the ship is damaged and they orbit to the other side and shoot that damage shouldn't carry over.

Oh and for Shields can I have that thing that Starbase's have that makes it invincible for a while. That would really get me out of some jams.

Might as well add the same type of warhead that Bombers have to like all missiles. Or just stick bomb launchers everywhere.

Also there is this bug where my big turret turns slower then the tiny ones and it is a problem, I mean maybe they can add like a hundred tiny ones to my big ship or something but you would think the big ones would just carry an up sized turret ring modeled on the small one that works so well. No atmosphere resistance and all.

I would also like to equip my ship with this plastic telescope I bought from Walmart so I can lock things past 250 kilometers. While we're on locking, is there anyway to put that super computer the Merlin uses for locking things in my Rokh because all my Rokh has for locking is a Commodor64 and I want to use that to play Galaga.

Oh and finally can I just make the ship out of that 1600mm plate stuff because that takes like 25m3 of cargo room and coats an Abbadon so I figure a Rifter made out of blocks of that could tank the sun... Well tank a lot of Dmg, all ships can tank the sun for some reason. No wonder EVE is so cold. =(

I will never un-like this.

On-topic. I'm okay with aesthetics. Just not in-game mechanics changes.

That's why I can't fly Minmatar ships. Those big flat solar panels act like fixed rudders and make turning hell!
Those suckers are tough though. I've come home with 5% hull left, and not scratch on them.
