So years ago, there was a debate to if the ships had a crew or not...

Some time after the debate some Devs came in and answered that there was definitely a crew on the ships and they would put that into the game.

So what gives? It's been years. The crew dynamic on STO is one of the best parts of the game. It adds a lot of depth.

In before **** STO or similar. I know not many people leave here for there. Vice versa would be excellent.

Are we ever going to see them? Or is it going to happen soon™?

Except your crew means nothing in STO. It's supposed to affect your ships performance but basically your ship works just as well with 100 or 2000 crewmen alive out of 4000. Unless you mean the duty officer thing, but technically that has nothing to do with your ship other than they supposedly work there.

They stink up the place and slow my Vaga down with all the extra weight.
I make it a habit to open the air lock after undocking just to flush the vermin (and the smell) out.

They give active and passive buffs, and your crew completes missions. The missions are a much more fun way of "passively" playing a game than PI IMHO.

Above poster wins @ RP. I LOL'd.

Watching 10,000 crew, through the windows of my Mackinaw, as they feverishly chisel Ice into perfect blocks would be so awesome!

A thousand different scenarios of hundreds of men and women frantically jostling in the heat of combat and the only thing you can think of is mining... Roll

Info on evelopedia should always be taken with a grain of salt.

Eh, I think they should have a Clear Skys type setup. Example, with the battleship, you got 1 gunnery crewman, an engineer and then the captain, everything else is fully automated. If they had stats that affected the ship that'd be way cool except for the months of rebalance required to make it work, that is.

I don't know. It's having the entiretyof the ship controls jacked into your brain more efficient?

Arent you a little short for a pod pilot?

Everything in eve takes ages.
Just look at Ambulation and salvage drones for an indication of time scales.

These are a good starting guideline.

And yes, despite having a capsuleer at the helm, all ships barring a couple of frigate classes that can be handled solo need a crew on board.

True, still: I endorse all posts that bring up that topic... crews should be represented in game and maybe even have some sort of gameplay impact.

Crew represented by an additional "rig" slot always made more sense to me.

They should have small, indirect bonuses though. Like 10% faster reload time, or a 5% increase to hull resistances. Just a slight buff to one or two irregular stats.

Like that, yea... but the bonus should start of at 1% (on more then one thing) and increase over time on its own to a max stat. So it would be more meaningful if you loose or switch out the crew... maybe you should actually have to pay upkeep for them too? There are many options thinkable...

I really really despise the STO away missions. They're boring, tedious and not in the least entertaining.

Would be great if frozen corpses could be biomassed and converted into something like a Quafe Energy bar, or protein soup, or something useful to trade/consume.
