When was the last time you had consensual PvP

To be honest i cant remember

Its mainly suprise pvp.

We all love PvP and we all love suprises But not together.

Im hanging around in lowsec these days and i either go there in a pve ship or a pvp ship.

And all that happens is that when im exploring i sit in a site killing rats and every passing ship gets out the combat probes and when im hunting im looking for imaginary belt ratters/hulks.

Question

1. When was the last time you had consensual PvP or
2. Suprise PvP that you did not realise you wanted until it was happening.

That includes a wardec where the opponent or yourselves through up some token resistance but really you would rather be doing other things.
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

Speak for yourself. I enjoy the hunt, and I enjoy avoiding the hunters when I'm the prey.

I have no interest in "1v1" meaningless PvP...

Last night.

We went to engage a ~130 strong RA battleship fleet in Tenerifis, they decided to stay and fight us. We jumped in to them and pew pew commenced. Good times were had and many boats were violenced. Both sides left with increased regard for the other.

Proper combat implies that fighting is only consensual for one side. Everything else is sport.

Having said that, "true" consensual pvp should only happen when both sides encounter each other by surprise, and neither can make up its mind to withdraw. This is pretty rare in EVE, in general. The last time I had something like that was years ago, back in null.

If we classify "consensual" as "agreed to by both parties ahead of the event," then I'd say a few weeks ago, when I had my last duel.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Consensual PVP:

  • Speaking with each other and making a time and place to meet.
  • Being at war and their intelligence knows you are gathering a fleet, they gather a fleet to fight you.
  • They know you are coming but wait to fight you, choosing to fight.
  • They initiate hostile actions but let the industrials and miners go, giving you a reason to come fight, an action way of saying, "Come play with us."

Non-consensual:

  • F*#king cloaked tackler pops up next to you in a worm hole then his buddies gang you.
  • Miner getting hit from no where by a ganker.
  • Corp member being killed by another corp member.

Actually, forget it, non-consensual, is usually done purely for the "lulz" the others have reasons, ISK damage, practices, territory claims and such.

Any PVP ingame I encounter is consensual, because I play EVE-Online.

I always have Consensual PVP.

When a target jumps through the gates and shoots back once I have pointed and opened fire he consented that I am shooting at him and therefore must shootback or be killed.

By shooting back he has consented to bring violence into my life and therefore I must defend myself.

I feel that consensual PvP kind of beats the whole purpose of a open world PvP.

Well... I have been a little burnt out on EVE recently so it has been a few days.

http://www.rotekapelle.com/killboard/?a=kill_related&kll_id=60747

Sedition actually decided to stick around and fight us. +1 rep to them, this was a great fight.

^ logi kills from the other side of the gate

Edit: I do of course define consensual PVP as: PVP with anyone who consents to the game by logging in. This was however a legitimate "Hey we have a fleet coming like 10 jumps out, do you want to stick around" kind of fight.

every time I press "undock" I consent to pvp, and even without undocking, I can do market pvp.

So have you tried using a pvp fitted ship and behaving like a pve fitted one?

Just asking...

You consent to pvp as soon as you undock. No such thing as unconsensual pvp.

Almost every time I go on an op

even when we jump some poor schmuch its because he was dumb and aggressed the bait.
that's consensual

I'd say for the most part most of the pvp in my area is mutual, all the roaming gangs know who else is out there roaming around, and avoid or engage as called for
