That's right capsuleers, we have a shipping date for the Collector's Edition, plus much more information on what you'll be getting in the bundle. CCP Doom has a dev blog letting you know all that pertinent information here.

We know you can't wait to get your hands on the Collector's Edition and we can't wait to get it to you.

While I'm excited about the Collectors' Edition itself, I'm pretty disappointed by the Promo Pack offer.

I (and I'm sure many many others) shelled out to pre-order the Collectors Edition a) to support a game I've played continuosly since beta made by developers whom I've met personally, and b) to get access to content that is unique to those who have pre-ordered the Collectors Edition or bought it from them.

Offering a large portion of the supposedly limited edition content for a lower price enormously devalues the Collectors Edition for me (and the value of the items on the ingame market, though I care about this less).

I don't want a refund, as fundamentally reason a) above is more important to me, but I want to register than this feels like a slap in the face to those of us who value the "limited" in "limited edition".

I'm sure many others who have pre-ordered the collectors edition will ask for a refund so they can buy the cheaper promo pack instead.

I'd also really like an assurance that none of these items (e.g. the Genolution implants) will ever be given away in any other context, because again, we are shelling out a LOT of money here and that would considerably undermine the value received.

Quote:
The EVE Online pre-purchase items are timed exclusives, available initially to pre-purchase customers and available to trade in the marketplace. They will be made publicly available via in-game markets and promotions at a later date.

This is also seriously not OK to be applied retrospectively. It needs to be made very clear, on an item by item basis, which items are unique and which may be mass-released later. The way this was handled for the tattoos was fine (i.e. told from the original announcement it was just a pre-release).

Yup, it's really unfortunate that the only thing that's different between the Collector's Edition and the Promo Pack is the price. Especially since the stuff in the promo pack is only for people who pre-ordered the Collector's Edition and wasn't a part of the pack when it was announced.

Unless you plan on offering the CA-3 and CA-4 to everyone for free on the Winter Expansion, it really looks like a step in the pay-to-win direction. Soon we'll have bundles that can only be bought for some extravagant price that contains rare items.

I really don't want this MMO to go in the direction of others.

Does this mean people will get a digital rifter (i.e. a normal rifter) with a USB Plug object in it's cargo?

Wait, what? Surely the pre-purchase rewards are for those who PRE-PURCHASE collector's edition??? The promo pack really devalues the rewards for purchasing collectors edition.

Hm. Nyancat has a point. Bundling implants in the promo pack does have a pay-to-win element to it-- while not overly powerful, existing CA-1s and CA-2s were nerfed slightly to make room for the CA-3s and CA-4s.

I'd strongly recommend keeping the promo items purely aesthetic.

Are the CA-3/CA-4 implants going to work like Tattoos where you give them to the pre-purchasers first with the intent to release them to the general Eve player at a later date?

From the dev-blog.

I suspect I know what's in the time-capsule, but that's because I'm a super special third party developer Blink

I think that's fairly certain.

While the store did have a note about pre-purchase items being items that would be exclusive to the CE only for a limited time, I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't even last until the CE shipped.

Honestly looks like a money-grab before they seed the items in-game. Which, by the looks of it, will happen the instant the CE ships.

Here's to hoping that the time capsule will have some nice exclusive stuff... that doesn't require you to be in your pod. That's the last place EVE players want to be ;)

not happy about the CA-1 CA-2 nerf :(

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Other than my concerns above I really am very excited about this whole thing.

My only other gripe is the game time is only for new accounts, which seems a bit silly.

I'd love to buy the collector's edition, but I live in Brazil, and there is no option to ship here. There is anything that CCP can do about this?
