Hello my fellow capsuleers, this is my first forum post so im not sure if im posting this in the right forum section but oh well, here is my dilemma. Im pirating NPC convoys for their water, protein delicacies and other fun roleplay items like tobacco and wine and im fairly safe from the sentry guns but my question is this. Once my standings with a corporation at the station im targetting gets below -5.5 (its dropping fast) will the sentry guns attack on site and will i be forced to find a new system to attack? Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I've not done this is so long I can't remember. Plus it was years ago so there may have been changes.

There was an article about doing this.... Something along the lines of when they were leaving stations outside the range of guns, and not when approaching. I'm sure someone here has experience.

Its probably not that profitable, but if you enjoy it, why not :-)

Remember to yell 'Yarr' at the NPCs while firing

I did this for a little while, it doesn't make you much but it is kinda fun... for a while.

You need to go to systems that have stations with different corps in them (preferably different factions*), if you shoot inbound shipments from corps different than the destination corp there is no sentry fire or standings loss, unless they recently changed it as I haven't done it for about a year.

*Sometimes its hard to tell if its ok to shoot if the corps are in the same faction, but when an amarr hauler is inbound to a gallente station for example, you know you are good to shoot with out consequence.

Ive noticed because i mean, i can make a quick mil out of the water drops and its a little fun, but also, ive noticed the sentry guns dont fire...at all...i noticed this when i shot at a hauler and was a few thousand meters from a sentry gun, my first thoughts were "oh my gawd im dead" but the sentry gun didnt seem to give a crap....i did this again to make sure my predictions were correct and sure enough, the sentrys dont fire at you. My question is though, will they eventually?

If you are at an amarr station and shoot an incoming caldari convoy the sentries will not shoot you.
If you are at an amarr station and shoot an incoming amarr convoy the sentries will shoot.
Also you can follow the convoys from station to station if you are really bored, they will mostly align to new destination before warping at whatever distance they do.

Glad im not the only person who takes interest in this Big smile

Lol im serious though, like no matter what hauler i shot, i was safe. Completley safe! The sentry guns dont give a crap! lol i shot an outcomming hauler at a caldari system in 0.5 and they did nothing. NOTHING which is great lol xD But right now im at -3.26 with my station im targeting...what happens when i get to -5.5 :o

When you hit -5.5 you will become an outlaw.

This means that:

Faction Police (The ones you CAN tank in a decent BC/BS) will hunt you down wherever you are in system (CONCORD will not assist)
Other players can engage you in highsec wherever you go, and you can only retaliate, PLUS you have to fight off sentry guns.

This killing haulers thing is putting you on the right track to how to enjoy EVE, once you are done pirating haulers, get yourself to a decent lowsec and start pirating people.
