With regard to API:
How posting it could be harmful as it shows only selected items (only those which would be visible on Eveboard anyway)?
Is there some other threat I'm not aware of?

Not wise...not harmful.

the key opens up Eveboard and access to ALL the characters on the account associated with it. You might be selling one but with it I can see the info of all. Some people like to keep their alts and training secret....maybe you don't. Posting the full api key for all characters, it seems you don't have an issue with it though :)

It should be limited API (showing character info, skills and standings) for this particular character... Are you sure it gives access to all my characters?

After reading carefuly the only thing I think I should add is the location of the character.
So it is: docked in Jita IV - Moon 4
