Hi guys!
This character (my main) has around 2.5 mil SP and is training minmatar ship skills—Do you think doing missions for a minmatar corp would be best?
If so, which one would you recommend, and where (if not minmatar, which race/location do you recommend)?
I'd be starting at level 1's with no standing (for every race). How long does it take to get to level 3's/4's?
Is it worth it some time down the track to get into combat (or "security") missions?
Or should I just go straight into other activities like incursions (I currently have around 80 mil ISK)?
Lastly, are the "social" skills a necessity to train (do they help a lot, or just a little)?

1) Minmatar corporations are fine - work for Republic Fleet.
2) With some Connections training 3rd level is matter of hours, 4th - like two days anyway.
3) Yes, it's worth the time. And I'm not sure you will be much of a help in incursions. No offenseSmile
4) Social skills help a lot. You don't really "need" them, but 20% faster standing gain, 16% free standing, and 40% better rewards with few rank 1-3 skills in level 4 helps.

Hi there!

Picking your missioning corp depends on what you want for your loyalty points, I recommend you shop around abit too see which corps has the most suitable LP store for you. Of course there are golden geese that have high value items, but these things change, pick the one who has stuff helpful to you.

Regarding location I don't have much too say, except make sure it has a low security rating, payments increase the lower you go, so for high sec missions, try to find a nice 0.5 system to net better profits over all. If you loot and salvage, a quiet system free of ninjas would be preferable pf course.

Getting to lvl 3's is pretty quick depending on social skills, an estimate would be too vague, but I'd say you could get to them in a couple (iirc, probably more) of evenings. When you get there, get a hurricane.

Social skills are very helpful, you get a huge bump in f.ex. LP payout with those trained.

Stick with minmatar - angels melt to fusion and shield tanks hold up well vs explosives damage as well, not to mention the fact that angels do the least annoying ewar(target painting) and they tend to fly nicely into your autocannon range. Once you are doing l4s in t2 fit maelstorm comfortably you would be good for incursion too. From there its just matter of grinding isk to buy up a machariel which will let you into incursion quickly and can steamroll through level 4s

One suggestion if you are just starting to run missions and your standings are mor or less neutral you could shoot for doing the cosmos for all four factions which would open you up for a wise variety of missions.

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.

Well, the question is, which ship skills? Cruisers/battlecruiser/battleship seems to be what people generally use on security level 2/3/4 missions, if you are going distribution missions a mammoth can take you pretty far.

I would have in the past recommended amarr missions for their armor plates you get from blood raiders, but salvage isn't what it used to be, or caldari for the nice selling items from the LP store (navy invun fields, CNR, etc) but, the tag shortages make things not as lucrative as tag prices are sky high, and no one seems interested in antifaction missions. So Minmatar is fine, there are some okay items in the LP store, the republic fleet warp disruptor is one that comes to mind as being worth collecting or buying the tags for, I remember that the Republic Parliament when I did minmatar missions had 5 run BPCs that used to make me a killing.

and yes train security connections to V, and the other social skills to at least IV, except fast talk and criminal connections unless you want to run pirate missions.

And as the other person said with your SP, you probably aren't useful for incursions. They are an elitest bunch
