Just a quick hint to anyone who is having problems patching their Linux installs and failing....

1. Download the manual patch here
2. Open a terminal and select your Eve prefix, ie mine is "export WINEPREFIX=/home/myname/wine-bottles/EVE"
3. Skip step 2 if you use the default Wine prefix for anything Windows related (not a good idea)
4. In the open terminal window type "wine patchname.exe" and manually select your install directory when prompted

Oddly enough, I had no issues with the current patch, even using the launcher. After reading the issues thread before I got home, I was somewhat concerned, but it patched with no glitches, restarts or other undesired behaviour. Of course, ymmv.

Here goes my latest patch experience...

After the repair.exe crashed on me a couple of times i (desperately) gave the launcher a try.
lo and behold, after 2 restarts of the launcher (both of those were not patch related), waiting on the data to roll in,
the game was patched and up-to-date.

:tldr:
The launcher did it for me Shocked


running eve on:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3220 CPU
GeForce GTX 660 (Nvidia 310.44 drivers)
Xubuntu oneiric (3.8.0-21-generic x86_64)
Wine 1.6

Launched the ExeFile.exe - as usual.

Window popped up: "there's a new 6MB patch". Gloriously hit OK.

Patch downloaded via Georgia Tech, installed and restarted; launcher started, downloaded the 750MB+ patch, applied, client ready.

Closed launcher - just in case - and re-restarted ExeFile.exe.

Not a glitch.

I had to restart the launcher once, as it hung at one point while downloading. It recovered just fine, and otherwise no issues.
