This has probably been said before but the new custom probe formations save function is awesome. Personally, this feature is one of my favourites of recent times.

Also a super big fan of the sigs not vanishing when they haven't been fully resolved.

Talk about Dumbing down probing.

The current system makes probing way to easy.
- Scan the system with a combat probe at 64 AU.
- Scan each CS with probes at 1 AU done.

Scan all 15 + Signatures in under 60 seconds each move to the next system.

Where is the Challenge?

Working as intended I guess :(

I am betting that rats are coming back to profession sites.

As it stands, the loot sucks, unarmed noobs are getting podded as they have been led to believe exploring is a viable isk maker and perfectly safe.

I used to make a lot exploring but for the time being I have been forced to turn to a life of crime. Why should I spend hours to reap a load of burnt this or destroyed that when I can let a poor noob do it for me before blowing him up. Help me before I kill again

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Yes, this is excellent just what we wanted!
Don't listen to Rock bitter he confuses a good userinterface with dumbing down. Scanning is still as hard as before only you don't need to fight the UI anymore now.
So what are you guys using as probe formation?

No local in null sec would fix everything!

I have a single point formation for my initial 64au scan for estimating Sig strengths and then another core probe formation which is 4x4au probes nested at the centre of 4x32au probes for quickly sweeping the system and determining Sig types.

If I need to home in on a Sig I'll use the perimeter drag function which maintains the shape and proportionality of the formation.

Rats already exist in profession sites, it's just that they appear randomly now, have better AI, can pod you and tend to loot your wreck. :)

I still explore the old way, I warp into a site, shoot everything and loot a lot of goodies. The only difference is I had to exchange my analysers for warp scramblers, and the loot is in wrecks instead of cans.

I'm not too sure about the improved AI, although they do talk back now even if it is mostly gibberish.

You are mistaking something being a challenge with something being tedious and taking patience.

Custom formations are nice. But that scan results are now remembered is more annoying than useful. After I have done the initial scan with high scan range to check for sig sizes, I have distracting circles all over the place for all the sigs, and they are often not even at the planet where the sig really is. So when I want to tackle the next sig I scan in a place where there is nothing. I will get used to it by ignoring those results, but it's definitely not an improvement.

For me, if you only highlight the sig that you're "working on" narrowing down, the other red circles/dots disappear from the map...

Basically what I do is:

1. drop probes, figure out what's what
2. select the first sig by clicking it in the list, the rest of the red stuff goes away
3. scan down the item selected in #2, bookmark it, then 'ignore' it from the results
4. repeat 1-3 until all sigs are gone.

Takes very little time and no extra red interfering anywhere.
