I am a little upset that the devs have dumbed eve down to make it easier on the scrubs who are learning i liked the fact that eve had a hard learning curve. Some of the changes i am talking about are the change in the name of the shield transporters to remote shield boosters which is just ********. Here is a small list of some of the modules that have had name changes to make them easier for the scrubs to figure out.

shield transporter - remote shield booster
tracking link - remote tracking enhancer
energy transfer - remote capacitor transfer

In the end what I am trying to say is that the Devs are making starting to make the game easier and that is taking away from the game in my opinion.

while I think you're getting your panties in a bunch over nothing, I do agree the energy link rename is pretty damn stupid. Capacitor is what the energy is stored in. So... that name might as well be "remote gas tank transfer"

They are a business.

They want to MAKE MONEY.

If streamlining naming conventions brings them 100 subs, and makes you quit, then they made the right choice.

I think all skills should only have a symbol that doesn't translate into any language. Because having things be less descriptive makes the game more eleet.

It happens to most MMO's as much as you might not like it. The simple fact is if they can unlock that bottom 10 percent intelligence wise that means more subscriptions. As with any MMO more subscriptions is a good thing.

That is true up to a point. I know of at least one major MMO (I won't name it, but it is the largest selling MMO in history), that has been dumbed down and dumbed down some more over the years, until even many of the die-hard fans quit playing. I'm not saying that EVE is doing this, names for skills seems like a fairly insignificant change to whine about. but if they do dumb it down too much it will not work in their favor.

When the bitching start about the name of module/skills changing, can we now say this place has hit rock bottom?

Stupid people do stupid things (smart people do as well but less often), so the more stupid people in the game the more easy targets we have.

First of all you should not call new people "scrubs", just because they came to the game later than you.

Name changes can not make everyone happy (I did not like them), but if this is your biggest problem right now, than please consider yourself a very lucky person.

I agree, a game should be challenging by the virtue of confusing naming conventions. In order to take EVE out of the hand of scrubs who need simple names, I propose to run all module names through at least 8 steps of Bad Translator, e.g.:

remote shield booster - becomes - "To remove the wheel, the coat of arms"
remote tracking enhancer - becomes - "Improved Panel"
remote capacitor transfer - becomes - "External transfer of condenser"

That will teach those noobs!

this pretty much. i don't like the changes either but only because they make the game more bland and less science fictiony, not because they benefit "scrubs".

WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR FACE?

also, OP. they are removing the inconvenience of having to look at the info tab every time you compare two items/skills... its not dumbing the game down. it only affects you while you are training them, or getting used to them.

following your logic this change is also a "dumbing down", just because now you don't have to click "compare" tick the "meta level" box and sort it by meta...
Quote:
The order of items in the Variations tab of the Show Info window is now correctly done by meta level.

You made me have a new hobby...

" WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR FACE?"

...35 translations later, Bing gives us:

"Latho"

I officially declare this thread to be derailed into a "what if i..."

"That will teach those noobs!"

...6 translations later, SDL gives us:

"That it will do this noobs educated! "

Just to keep in the module naming convention:

"ancillary armor repairer tech 1"
...8 translations later, Bing gives us:
"Nurse/1 technology." or "Connect the bumper repair technician 1"

"ancillary shield booster tech 1"
...8 translations later, Bing gives us:
"Improved support technology 1-coat of arms" or "Rocket technology, protection 1"

this is freakin awesome Shocked

i would have posted one more but that one came out just flat out nasty and would probably earn me a temp ban Lol it suddenly involved a certain part (or parts) of a female reproductive organ..i swear to god it didnt start out that way Lol

Basically the only thing that is annoying about them renaming any modules is going around and updating all your fits with the new correct name.

Be in charge or alliance doctrines and have to do that **** everytime something gets renamed and now its annoying...

But since you are not anyone important in eve your whining about nothing.
