I believe what he means is that, whether he likes it or not, solo pvp has become incredibly hard. Hard up to a point where trying it without links either means suicide or roaming for hours and hours until you finally find someone who is willing to give you a fight where you at least have a shot at killing something. After my recent solo experiences I kinda have to agree.

Um... well there are different kinds of solo/duo pvp.

Those kinds you see in cool movies, when a single man kills gangs are mostly impossible trick without links. Brawl setups simply dont work without them except in situations of low incoming dps, like 1v1 and so on.
You can fly a kiter, but then your spectrum of targets is quite narrow.

Consider not only being alone vs many in terms of raw power, but also ewar and stuff. You NEED that edge

tldr: You can do solo without links, but its hard and situative

There has been solo pvp before this t3 link era and there will be solo pvp after... back in the days there were blobs
and ecm etc. just like today... solo pvp didnt exist then? If you cant adapt in this game, you are in the wrong game...

Various changes over the years have made solo pvp less viable, namely steadily increasing EHP of buffer ships that make it much harder (or impossible) for a skilled player to split up a gang and kill individual ships before backup can arrive.

I'm not saying solo is ded, or that it requires links, but game mechanics have made it harder. Not to mention players have generally gotten better and higher SP, alliances are more organized, intel networks more sophisticated, etc.

Solo pvp is better off then ever in eve. (and i mean no links solo, with links is obviously better)

it always seems that it's the older players that went down the linked solo road that defend it, say "you have to have it because......"

the fact is you do not need it to have fun solo and get good fights......and win. Yes there are gangs you have no chance against, don't engage them. You are not meant to be able to kill whole gangs solo in a single ship.

There are plenty of fights to be had out there for a solo pilot and there always will be
