INCARNA, in and of itself, wasn't the problem.

"The Powers That Be" foolishly dividing their resources into too many projects at once -- there be the smoking gun.

A scenario repeated time and time again by hundreds of "start-ups" you've never heard of because they all had good ideas, had some early success, lost focus in all the excitement, quickly hired more middle management to "fix things", then had to dump staff by the truckload because "it's broken" and then, in many cases, just turn out the lights.

Lets face it Incarna was stupid

I gave you a like, just for that.

Having that said, I created this character as 'my main' solely for complaining about incarnage (I have no other main since I sold the original one in early 2007).

However, people complaining about the general direction CCP are taking the game towards doesn't have anything to do with their disgust for Incarna.

I'm sure if Marauders could get a DPS boost in bastard mode and the required mods cycle time is halved, they could be fun. CS are a bit 'meh', but nothing major to complain about. Considering HACs and their somewhat stupid specialization at being slow, they heavily ****** things up.

However, I rather post when I'm strongly displeased with something, rather than posting in an F&I thread just leaving me with the general feeling of 'meh'.

Considering I'm a rather average eve-player, that's just human behaviour, but I can't really see how you link it to Incarnage.

Let's face the facts Incarna/WiS will never be finished or expanded on. CCP's vision of making EVE a space sim will never come about mostly because hardcore vets would rather they work on FiS. And you can't really blame them when alot of the work CCP has to do is fix broken or failing systems.

CCP Soundwave was talking about the little things and big things in 2011 right before incarna had to come out. They were switching to little things it seems, after all of the rage. No mega features "Jesus" features now. I encourage everyone to see all of 2011 recordings of fanfest.

Sad thing about being in that camp though is there is so much stuff to fix we would never get any type of functional wis content or really any new (non broken) content at all Sad

In the end though I do trust CCP to develop their game at a good pace and will continue to play till the lights finally shut off.

Community asking for fix -----> CCP tries to fix--------> By fixing it ,gameplay is altered ---------> community cries--------->CCP has to fix it again.
Fixing can go on for the next ten years.

This is why CCP tries to keep any changes under under wraps as tight as possible because they know they can never keep everyone satisfied with whatever they change, fix or add to the game.

Last I heard with in station avatar interaction was they were using the Unity Game Engine for quick prototyping.

Most will probably hate this but game designers/developers should really be more tight lipped about what they do until they can release a more polished product to be released to the test server. Even then it should be on a NDA/Beta server to get feed back on what they have done long before it gets implemented.

Yes its CCP's game but its a careful balance between the designers vision and what the players are expecting from the designers.

Hope what I said made sense. I'm trying to see it from both aspects so all I can do is try.

He probably means sell your HAC, CS and Marauder V characters to some noob thinking they're worth it after the 'rebalance' and stick to T1 with your noob alt.

Sound advice, actually.

Well if they actually delivered "Walking in Stations" we wouldn't be talking about how bad Incarna was.

They did deliver walking in stations. When it went live you could walk (very slowly) around a room in a station.

This is what CCP needs to learn: roleplayers will never be happy...they will demand more and more nonsense until the entire game collapses under a huge pile of furries and Barbie enthusiasts all crying for more emotes and dance moves.

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise

Well to be fair they didn't deliver what they had shown in the videos which was open stations with interactive stuff.

You know you should actually join a LARP group and try role playing yourself.

I like to role play a liar and argumentist.

Keep in mind you are playing an MMORPG, a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game.

I'm happy that Incarna was put on a very extended hold, this game is about spaceships and that should always take priority over everything else. And yes, the Sims or Second Life would be far better alternatives for those wishing to control more attractive versions of themselves.

However please don't mosh roleplayers into the category of furries and barbie enthusiasts who just want to stand around in the CQ and use emotes. You'll find that quite a number of them engage in actual ship to ship combat on a regular basis (blobbing up and pressing F1 doesn't count unless you are an FC) and detest Incarna as well, though not as much as you do.

I personally think that if incorporated correctly, Incarna can add a lot to the game. Problem is, CCP didn't and still don't have any idea how to incorporate it correctly, so until they do, it's best to focus on what actually makes EVE what it is, spaceships.

CCP already wasted two years of development on Incarna and the game almost died because of it. Asking them to waste even more time just to make roleplayers (who are generally loathsome people) happy is just insane.

I'm not necessarily asking them to waste more time on it. What I really mean is that Incarna should be nothing more than a side project. I think it should be expanded upon further but not at the cost of the actual gameplay (spaceships). If Incarna can be further developed without taking resources away from the core game then I don't see why not.

Personally, I would be content with Incarna dropping off the face of the planet forever, but if CCP still plans on developing it, then they should provided they avoid making the mistakes they made before.
