Alts are ruining EVE

Indeed, in a market where you see new MMO's imploding left and right, bleeding 90% of their subscribers within the first year, it's a tried and true strategy to aliente the people that kept you afloat for 10 years in order to attract a new mass audience. It is totaly unlikely that those people might move on to the next "new thing" within 6 months.

5 million subscribers would turn Eve into a clone every other MMO out there. It's a niche game, that appeals to a niche audience and does so very successfully. Making it appeal to the mass market would ruin it, because we'd end up with a game that has been so watered down from it's original concept it would be unrecognisable.

More subs != a better game.

Impossible to police. Besides all my Alts are "Mains" is CCP going to keep an eye on every account to make sure "Mains" are not being used as/like Alts?

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise
