WH Jump out of nowhere

Last night we had one WH signature in our system, our freshly spawned static, in fact, it was the only signature in system apart from a few anoms. Noone had warped on it and now I just warped on it myself to see that it's natural cycle had not yet started (freshly spawned then on the other side). Yet there is a single jump into the system a few hours ago... this is quite puzzling as there were no holes to go through. Has anything like this happened to anyone else and more over, can anyone explain this?

The api for jumps normally updates around every 45 - 55 mins give or take. Wormnav will sometimes iteself show two npc kills but at different 'ticks' of the api. What do you use to check jumps?

I ruled that possibility out since this was only a single jump, as far as i know you can't close any newly spawned hole with a single one way jump

Keep in mind when staticmapper says 1 jump, that means 1 jump into your system.
It doesn't show jumps out of the system.

Yeah still, there was no WH to come in through...

timeline ( during which only a single WH is in system):
|----------(-12h)--------------(-6h)------------(-3h)------------------
|-------------1--------------------2-----------------3------------------

  1. static collapses (EOL)
  2. single jump occurrs
  3. new static opened by warp on

Might have been a scout that either came in or left before the old static collapsed.

Edit: just saw your timeline, a bit weird indeed.

After 3 months living in and watching jump statistics, I believe sometimes there are just "hiccups".

Much the same way that those sites will say that during a certain period I had 2 NPC kills after I cleared 4 sites with probably 75 NPC's total.

Also, have you actually rescanned? I have had new sigs and WH k162's crop up minutes after finishing a scan of the system.

Yeah, lived in WH for about 18 months now, never seen this happen before.

Yeah double checked, scanned before and after opening the static up

One of your corpies is lying and opened the static.

Or someone was in your system you did not know about and made an exit through static.

Well I have, at least once.

I cannot recall exactly when. But there was an update maybe a month ago, after which statistical data on the various websites has been less accurate.

Nope, Static hadn't spawned, see the timeline. When I opened it 3 hours after the apparent jump, the hole showed that it had not yet begun it's natural cycle

Someone jumped an Orca in to close a K162, and it popped behind them.

You now have a cloaked industrial sitting in your system trying to figure a way out... :)

I don't think there exists a WH you can close with a single jump

Yeah I think this is the most probable one I can think of

We had a similiar incident. With 1 jump 40 minutes after everyone logged off.
Coincidentally one of the corpies moved moros to the ship maint. bay and told no one about it.
Missing moros and 1 jump out of the system caused a bit of the confusion :)

As Derath said, sometimes the system seems to "hiccup". And it's not an issue with Dotlan, StaticMapper, WormNav, etc. The odd/wrong info is consistent across all of them.
Besides the 1 ship kill (pod gets away safe) showing up as 2 (which seems to happen most of the time there is a single ship kill for us), I've had times when multiple jumps showed up as 1. I've noted a few times recently when we force-closed a wh (approximately 15 round trips) and opened a new one, then a few hours later (or next day) I saw that during the time when we were doing that, the api info only shows a few (1-3) jumps. And I *think* I've even seen a few cases where I know jumps were made, but the system registers zero (yes, accounting for the update lag). I now "take with a grain of salt" the jump info. Still useful, but I don't count on it being totally accurate. I certainly can't say that 'no jumps' has ever shown up as 'some jumps', but I wouldn't regard it as impossible, since multiple jumps sometimes show up as one (or maybe none).
