Actually long range weapons as arties gets a RoF bonus, while the short ranged ones recieve alpha.

Train overheating.

I almost lost a Tengu due to triple elite frigs spawning directly on my ass. Burnt everything out to kill that frigate. From that point on I've always packed Precision missiles but I learned my lesson. Train overheat.

Timely that this thread should bump up towards the top.

I just made major use of overheating flying my Rifter on the angel Sound pirate epic arc. It saved me a bundle of warpouts.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Only time I overheat in PvE is after coming home drunk and trying a level 4. Overheating my tank has saved more ships than I care to remember!

Overheating costs money. And a mission runner shouldn't acquire an habit to waste money just to go through missions.

By that same logic, you should still be flying a noobship in your missions - lower cost = more ISK gained, amirite?
Question is (or should be): does it bring in more than it costs. Same question should be applied to overtanked fits, use of faction and / or t2 ammo, etc.

Average length of a PvP encounter: <30 seconds.

Average length of a PvE encounter: >2 minutes.

That is why people overheat in PvP and not PvE. After about 2 minutes your overheating is useless because you don't have modules anymore.
