Marauders - now great for high sec, terrible for null.

The marauder was a broken PVE ship, now its only a high sec PVE ship?

Using the Bastion module in null-sec, in a ship as expensive as a marauder is not going to be a good idea. True, you could leave the bastion module off, but I'd just be thinking "I'm using this ship wrong" - and that's the terrible thing, this ship actively discourages use in null.

I'm dissapointed.

Marudaers will be useful in null as 10/10 DED complex solo-pwnmobiles. But it would be stupid to siege...I'm sorry, to "bastion" (lol) in an anomaly.

Still, the marauders are getting other buffs, they won't be any worse in null without the bastion module, in fact they should be a slight bit better. Faster MJDing won't help but it's a cool feature

Just because a ship can use a mod doesn't mean it has to.

All that said I'd stick with my machariel for null pve.

Marauder ships are now better, you'll see them more in tournaments and small gang warfare. Sorry you didn't get a ship suited for largescale nullsec PVP...

No, I appreciate that they'll now be more competent in small gang, and I like that. I don't like that ships which have been re-worked to suit their role as high end pve boats, are only fully effective in high sec missions, an income source that allready provides huge reward for negligable risk. Using bastion-mode in the null-sec equivelent anoms would be an incredibly stupid move, which means that regular battleships will still be better, not what I expect from the ethos of the marauders.

I hoped the marauders would give null sec anom runners an alternative to carriers (and I know people claim certain Pirate/faction BSs are better for anoms than carriers, but they're wrong (and more expensive)).

Marauders were kind of designed for PVE I think..

Bastion wil be banned in tourneys. Beside that nerfed marauders will be less used there.

Custom ship skins, character creator style "repaint". Bring it!

This is on a "whatever floats your boat." Maraders got a boost THEN they got the Baston mode, which is completely optional!
They'll still do what they've been doing all along. And as I've lived out in null on several sides of the fence I can say that I barely see them used for PVE in null. I don't really see them being used any more or less then they currently are. Except for tournaments and small gang PVP.

If they could rival sentry carrier in dps and projection they might get used. They got the projection part down, but dps doesn't come close. Also with new mass they alight pretty much as fast as carriers so what is the point? With the bastion module the marauder has less GTFO then a carrier which is dumb.

CCP put the Domi changes after the last tourney because everyone used those setups. CCP is using tournaments as a selling ground. So the more variety in ships shown AND the more cooler they look, (transforming ships) they'll use at every moment they can.

So I'll happily bet you that if someone rolls a Baston fitted Marauder during a tournament, every ******* camera will be trained on it. Then the sales pitch will soon follow...

so, i'm sitting here, and almost every situation i think "bastion would be good for that" always ends up with "if only it didn't have drawback x".

i'll say it; i don't get what this module is actually useful for other than an animation to say "free killmail here". some one enlighten me?

That seems to be pretty much every thread in which a ship is altered, tbh. If it wasn't reclassified as 'God Ship,' then it's apparently not wanted here.

I think there is some extraordinary opportunity for Marauders in low sec now. I've been messing around with some fits... I think they might actually be viable in piracy. It's going to be expensive to try but I'm game... Big smilePirate
