Alright, cool.

There have been quite a few comments about how dark the new models are (it's more so the new shadow engine), so I'm pretty sure CCP have taken it on board. It's more so a case of balancing the realism aspect - check out the 'lit' side of your ship - without making the contrast too insane. I personally feel the best solution would be decreasing the contrast in the shadowed areas a little and not touching the skins at all - the stations are showing the same degree of contrast.

For the record, I've actually got no real issue with it; I think the little 'blip' lights on the hulls are a good indication of where what elements of the hull are located. Maybe if CCP made said 'blips' brighter (and have each pulse of the lights light up part of the darkened side of the hull) everyone will be happy?

Now if my UI lightens up I'll be fine with dark ships illuminated by my lasers

My UI is unchanged from TQ. Try playing with the UI sliders in the settings? Or post screenshots?

I love the darkness of Eve - in space nobody can hear you scream... Also if they could they can no longer see where you are screaming from!!!

Even in the dark you must find some way to make objects easier to spot (highlighted edges?) and react to...

Space is dark... I don't give a ******* **** about that if it means I can't see my ship.

Semi cross-post (same topic afterall): Add a slider for ambient light and everyone will be happy. Problem solved.

With my shader detail all the way up, it is even DARKER, I don't know why, I am guessing it's my card, it's a 2 year old Nvidia.

I'll post screens to show what I mean.

A funner solution would be only making things that dark in certain obvious areas, so that when it does happen it is not only more readily accepted, but much cooler.

The deeper, inter-region areas are very dark indeed, but I kinda like that. What might be a good idea is to put a few more lights on ships to illuminate them a little better now that space is actually dark. Just a thought.

Ehm, unless it is damaged in some way, it should absolutely have no problem rendering EVE correctly.

Next thing we're going to hear is that we need state of the art GPUs to render eve's *****

I've not had a chance to log yet, but the issue isn't the ships, it is the Overview, HUD, Chat WIndows etc, they are very dark, they are NOT pinned, the entire interface is dark, I am happy space is dark.

Hello All,

I am new to SISI and I find that even with shaders effectively off, the game is VERY dark. I have toyed with settings in and out of game and no luck.

Anyone else experiencing this?

while the nebulaes look quite nice, the new lightning model hurts my eyes!!

i don't care if space is dark and gloomy...it's a game and i'd like to be able to actually see what i'm flying...

perhaps there should be an option for users to be able to switch to the "old " lightning model...this way you can stil switch "the lights on" if you don't care about the pseudo-atmosphere-darkness....

Do you know how it is in space?

Dark.

Now go calibrate your monitor (really). It looks fine on my Mac, and since these are calibrated from factory, it's a good parameter.
