using only gallente ship line-up, what would be the best way to eliminate a passive tanked pve rattlesnake.

seems kind of annoying compared to other pve boats as its drone will destroy anything that can sig tank, and since its passive it should have somewhat ok buffer tank

Hyperion, blasters, neut, flight of heavies, flight of lights, use the lights to attack his drones with, neut is there to try turn off any active resists. Go to heavies if you force him to bay his drones.

You should be able to run if losing or unable to break the tank, so no drama trying really.

I came *this* close to tackling one last nite in w-space (client crashed as I was setting up for final warp-to and he was gone when i returned), but I was planning to use a solo bomber with booster support. He had been using minmatar sentries and I don't know what other drones he was carrying.

I was planning to tackle from 35 or so km and orbit at around 1700m/s using oversized AB. Sentries and large drones i was going to lock and torp, smaller drones I was planning to smartbomb. My stay-alive was a combination of speed, sig size, and a shield booster and my keep-on-going was a cap-booster.

I have no idea how well the gallente bomber fits for this role and my planned effort may have been an abject failure ... but that is what i was intending to do. It's possible that you are almost as silly as me and might want to try something along those lines.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

If you can fit ship exclusively against drone boat why not use disco ball to kill off his drones? (smartbombing battleship)

A passive tanked rattlesnake:
• can have a very small or big tank
• can have pvp highs (neut)
• can have shield power relays (vulnerability to neut)
• can have ecm drones
• can have missile dps of 400-500ish

Either get a ship scan on him or be sufficiently prepared. You won't get many chances on him anyhow.

Counter:
• smartbombs kill his drones
• neut kills his active tank portion
• you can deal sentry damage while bombing his drones by leaving yours outside range (he can shoot them with missiles)
• you need to be able to tank his drones initially and possible missiles during the fight
• you need cap for your guns, smartbombs and tank

I would lean towards that Hyperion and fit a smartbomb. Just don't engage him when he's running therm-kin pve :)
Whether you should fit a neut or not depends on his fit (level of tank). You need to engage him so that his sentries are at smartbomb radius or kill his drones with yours.

Well, a Kronos would off be better for this job. Risk v reward...

If you are going for the awox get a passive targeted ship scan.

actually yes I agree with spod, kronos best boat at it, many utility highs without losing dps to them.

For the Hyperion I would fit 1 smartie, for Kronos 2.
