Buying PLEX on Amazon

Not sure if this is the right thread but figured it is a noob question so asking here.

For several reasons I want to buy 3 plex but unfortunately I can only buy 1, 2 or 6 plex in the ccp plex store. Therefore I went looking on Amazon and found a nice 3 plex deal by ccp!

Just when I wanted to pay for the purchase Amazon denied the purchase because it is only available for US customers.

My question is now if an american corp mate can buy the 3plex for me so hè can transfer them in game to me and I will wire him or her the money back? Would this be flagged as illegal by ccp?

Hoping to get an answer from a ccp representative.

If it awards the actual INGAME "Plex" item they are tradeable. I reccomend using contracts, I also recommend NEVER undocking with them in your cargo hold.

Redeem them where you want them to be sold. I have an alt in Jita specifically for plex dealing.

The plex you buy from amazon are actual plex items. Make sure you get the plex deal and not the "game time" deals. Once your corpmate buys them on amazon, he can trade or contract them to you, or drop them into your hangar at a corp office if he has the proper roles.

Not a forum alt.

1+2=3

Why go to the trouble, put yourself at risk of getting screwed and do something you feel you need to ask if its OK, to save $5?

Not worth it IMO.

Regional restrictions are there for law/tax purposes. I don't think you can sidestep them without doing something bad. That's just my understanding though. You really should file a support ticket to get a CCP rep's word on it.

First off, I wouldn't take what I have to say as any sort of advice or statement of legality. And in no way am I promoting side-stepping tax laws.

But, the way I see it, what you're asking is pretty much the same thing as asking someone you know to pick something up at the store for you. Basically, they buy it for and you pay them back. It's not like you're trying to sell or buy in-game items for real money in this situation. But you are trying to get around something. I think it probably would only become an issue if someone was doing it a lot. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Personally, I would have just done it. Aside from your post here, there would have been nothing to make it seem like either of you were trying to get around something. And as long as you didn't chat about payment in game, it would have just looked like a friend gave you 3 PLEX. But seeing as how you already posted this...

Anyway, the bottom line, for me, is that I probably wouldn't do this unless the other person was a friend IRL.

Your friend buys 3 Plex. <-This step is fine.
Your friend gives you the 3 Plex in exchange for money <- This step is (at least by every reading of the EULA I've seen) is not fine.

Yeah, CCP's EULA forbids trading in-game assets for RL money, regardless of reason. Actually, pretty much any EULA forbids RMT. The only way you can buy PLEX with RL money is via CCP direct or by getting a GTC from one of their approved sellers and converting that to 2 PLEX (then getting #3 from CCP or in-game market).

However, if you have 1.65 billion ISK, you could just trade that to your friend for the 3 PLEX and it'd be completely fine. This figure is based on PLEX = 550m market value, which could be wrong. At that point, though, it might be easier to fly to a market, find the 3 cheapest sell orders and buy them for your use.
