Brutix Navy Role

What is the purpose and role of a brutix navy? A megathron is cheaper, has more dps, more tank, same midslots, same mobility (yes as hard as it is to believe the mega has the same speed and slightly less agility), and better drone bay.

Discuss.

With the creation of the racial Battlecruiser skills and the changes to command ships requiring a large investment in leadership skills you could argue it was there to fill a top end niche for those with good Battlecruiser skills.

It is a fairly solid ship in it’ own right and does not require large turret skills.

More tracking, better scanres, smaller sig, less skill intensive, utility high.

However I don't fly either boat so I can't answer your question objectively, those are just stat based advantages the N.Brutix has.

Feel free to disregard/flame my comments but I think they are valid as far as roles go in the overall game not necessarily for PVP which I am pretty sure you are referring to.

The ship is appealing for level 3 missions (and possibly 4/10s? Not sure don't do them) for a few reasons:

For a majority of level 3s, with a larger tank than the standard brutix it doesn't really need much more than three slots/rigs dedicated to tank if that.

I would always use a myrm instead of a brutix due to superior damage application from range using sentries, but with the buff coming to rails I will probably start using or at least try out NBrutix as well.

Regarding cost, with the Gallente militia's apparent momentum, now gaining tier 3 LP payouts (pretty sure they have been at 1 most of the time since NBrutix came out), the price is probably going to start dipping. If they manage a push to 4 and/or maintain 3 for a while I would guess the price might dip down to or even below the Mega's cost once all the farmers switch sides and come flocking.

Fit that Mega with nanos and it goes way faster is more agile and still gets higher tank/DPS+nice drone bay = options

In short Navy BC's are funky stuff. Imho we didn't needed those, first because regular versions are already too good and second because we needed more bang for the buck, for instance: Navy carriers or dreadnaughts

Well it has space camo, so it is harder to see in space than the Mega.

Has medium guns instead of large guns. Has a mass of 15ish kt instead of 100ish. Navy Brutix is a good bit tankier.

It has none. Especially with the command ship changes. I was against these being released in the first place. I guess they dont really hurt anything though. Unlike ABCs that stepped on the toes of a lot of ships.

If they wanted to release REALLY fun toys they shoulda done the last set of navy battleships. Navy maelstrom anyone?

I seen to recall the devs saying that all the navy battlecuisers were supposed to be good at attacking smaller targets. Essentially the destroyers big brother.

On the field, well, I couldn't tell you any practical applications because I haven't flown any navy bc yet.

It can be used in level 3 missions.

I prefer Wolf, Hawk, Vengeance and Harpy.

Navy Brutix vs Megathron: Why fly the NBrutix?

  • Speed: 194 m/s base (1270 m/s MWD) vs. 153 m/s (1116 m/s MWD)
  • Align time: 7.82 s vs. 10.5 s
  • Signature: 305 m vs. 380 m
  • Scan resolution: 250 mm (5.2s to lock a cruiser) vs. 119 mm (10.9s to lock a cruiser)
  • Raw tracking (neutrons+antimatter): .206 rad/s vs. 0.0893 rad/s
  • Resolution-normalized tracking (divide by gun resolution): .206/125=.00164 vs. 0.0893/400=0.00022325
  • Tracking ratio, in more plain numbers: 7.35 : 1(the same ratio between a 125mm autocannon Slasher and a small focused beam laser Punisher, if you want a parallel)
  • Sensor strength: 26.4 vs. 25.2
  • Utility high slots: 1 vs. 0

Plenty of reasons! Plus, with similar fits, the Megathron is marginally more expensive (but pays back much better in insurance than the Brutix does).

You can run 4/10s in a VNI or Ishtar. Why on earth would you want to do them in a BNI?

It's mostly an awesome hangar queen of high sec show off at undock or gates, eventually high/lox sec solo elite pvp with 2 solo guardians 1 solo falcon 1 solo faction fitted booster pirate implants and combat boosters.

That's pretty much all about it Lol
