Wait, are you serious? Six hundred bucks ransom in real-life monies? And here I thought I had things figured out with my standard nine-figure ISK ransoms, but...

I'm a starving college grad with no job, and you're telling me I can get six hundred bucks by parking a cloaker in some bear haven out in the null boonies? I...what?

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I'm not surprised. The whole PLEX thing made this game vulnerable to these kinds of things already years ago.

Seriously?

Firstly, anyone who would pay this even if it was legal is an idiot. As has already been said, tell them to **** right off, see how long their attention span lasts.

Secondly, I'm 100% sure that demanding IRL money to stop a war is against the EULA or TOP, and if you petition them with proof, they'll get banned quick smart.

I'm not certain, but I suspect people in my country could actually get arrested for trying to pull that...

RMT in Eve was around before Plex. Plex was CCP's answer to calls from the player base for a legitimate means to acquire in game advantage through isk.

The desire and means have always been there. If you do your research you will come across a story (true or not) about a certain Russian aluminum magnate that spent quite a bit more on this game than the amounts being discussed here.

CCP is never going to change the importance of isk, nor could they if they wanted to, which they don't. It's too large of an income stream. Now, one must ask why people are willing to spend so much RL money on a game. Is the drive to succeed at a game that strong? Or is it because of the potential of RL income through RMT. I say the latter. I still contend that CCP is working both sides towards the middle: Plex and RMT. Remember, CCP didn't originally have an "official" means to purchase isk with RL money. I may be wrong as this is all I know of it. But you can't convince me that they didn't recognize RMT revenues from the beginning, nor that they didn't actively foster such behavior in order to capitalize on it.

Don't ban me, bro!

Any monies you spend on this game you should write off as soon as you've spent it.

If you keep comparing isk to real currency then you'll never do anything.

I know PLEX has put a value on isk, but the isk does not really belong to you anyway, if CCP went bust you would lose the lot.

I always wonder why there are no many stupid people in this game always talking about isk/h and time to do more or real money instead of isk, they really associate isk to money = RL, it's fracking awesome Lol
Because there are too many tards ready to pay real money for extra power Lol

The part that ruins it is, if we fight and "win" we hold sovereignty for a few months longer. If we pay we get blue status and our 10 month ROI on sovereignty is almost a certain payout.

ROI in ISK on an investment made in $$$. I don't see how those could connect, unless.....

Nah, you can't trade ISK for $$$, PLEX are unidirectional. I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

Well you never know CCP might get some free advertising for EVE .... "International agency investigates criminal activity in EVE Online".

At least we will know if CCP is involved at all in any of this, the big giveaway will be what they ask for, "we attack at dawn unless we get a pair of $1000 jeans" Smile

Right now it is easier to just give RL moneys to your enemies than it is to pay for a war. Between us our last war cost about $1000 between PLEX and Russian forum dues.

This new griefer corp wants a $600 visa gift card, and some of our busier alliance mates have offered to pay. As a matter of principle I had to decline looks like another collection will be taken.

War is ISK and ISK is money.

CCP please find a way to reduce the RL financial burden of operations in null, doing work in-house rather than dumping RL money in Jita and praying the JF makes it thirteen trips a month.

Getting rid of sovereignty payments would go a long way in the right direction.
