Welcome to the thread of the hit&run sniping thrasher.

Prerequisites:

I assume lvl5 skills regarding turrets and their support skills
and also in electronics and engineering, which should be pointless to mention anyway.

You do not need AWU at V.
Level III works too, because this fitting is pretty forgiving.

Also, please note that numbers indicating damage, range, or agility
will always be off in regards to your own skill levels ... unless they are equal. :)

A trasher is a typical minmatar ship, built for ...
.) long range
.) high agility
.) high impact ...

... and the sniping thrasher greatly displays the strength of Minmatar ships.

Why?:

Because it makes sense!
1k per volley from 50km distance (or more)
That's still optimal range ! :D

---------------------- EFT CUT --------------------------

[Thrasher, Combat Thrasher]
Local Hull Conversion Inertial Stabilizers I

Sensor Booster II, Scan Resolution Script

280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Tremor S

[empty high slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Small Projectile Locus Coordinator I

--------------------------- EFT CUT -------------------------------

What??

This is the t2 prototype i've used first.

1017 alpha.
53km optimal.
3.4 seconds to gtfo (=aligntime)
2.4 seconds to lock a pod.

Targeting range is 54km (sacrifice scanres for more)

Too low gtfo ? (=agility)
Drop a Locus or two for Nozzle joints.
2.8sec align time.

You need AWU V for the Locus Coordinator rig,
or a 1% PG implant at AWU IV.

Now... I know this probably isn't what everybody is looking for.

You might not actually care about high gtfo,
unless you're a -10 maniac who needs to bounce around on grid.

If you're a -10 and you have a permanent spot you stick around
and somebody aggresses you in your ganking ship,
you can return in one of these thrashers and show him how "leet pvp" you really are.
(this falls into the content creation department, btw)

The short amount of aligntime makes sure that no battleship will ever even lock you,
and even most battlecruisers will have a hard time, unless they specifically fit for higher scan resolution.

Make sure you have enough bookmarks around your favourite celestial. :)

(Hint: The minimum distance you can warp is 50km)
(by warping to 100km to a spot 151km far away.)
(What's my optimal again ?)

Okay???

This ship can perfectly satisfy any range-o-phile person out there.

Switch the Local Hull for a Tracking Enhancer II,
and the Collision rig with another Locus Coordinator,
and your optimal gets pushed to 59km, at 936 alpha.

Plug in a ST-903, which increases your optimal by 3%, for 61km.
OOOOR ...

For everyone who is willing to pay extra for an hour-long service ... :)

Combat Boosters !

The appropriate booster is in Slot 2, Frentix.

Synth: 62km
Standard: 67km
Improved: 70km (increase your targeting range!)
Strong: 73km

(i don't include any warfare links, because i have no clue about them :)

The only possible negative effect from the booster, in regards to the ship, is tracking.
(The tracking reduction isn't actually that bad, given the range.)

And what is it for?

It's a hit&run sniping ship.

You warp in.
You shoot.
You warp out/ to the next bookmark on grid

Once you're used to it, it's not that easy to take it down.

Now imagine ten of these, dishing out 10k of damage every 6 seconds.

It only needs *one guy* to fly *a whole fleet * of these (equal aligning skills necessary)
Your fleetmates just need to concentrate on locking and shooting.

First time i used this was in Hek, because i needed a way to dish out damage
and not get killed by the faction police.

I also tested this in one or two fleet fights in Red, against Blue.
While the others kept blobbing the gate, i created two bookmarks on the fly
and then started shooting people by using the sentry turrets and fleetmates as warp-ins.

It's fun and it works ! :D
And doing it right, you're almost untouchable. ^_^

It gets even better against missiles !

As missiles need to travel to hit you,
you can actually keep shooting until they get close enough.

Then you warp off and watch them pass you by. :)

On a special note, i feel that i need to add the obvious.

This fitting does not enable you to point anything,
which also means you'll have a hard time killing anything solo,
unless it's in two or three volleys.

That being said, seeing people humiliated,
because they have to dock up/warp off, (dominixes, harbingers, lots of tornados ...)
because of a simple Thrasher they simply can't touch ... is quite the fun. :)
(oh the whining ... "u dont no how 2 fite" etc etc ...)

You can even run missions in this ship, probably up to lvl3. :)
If you're good. I don't know. :)

Anyhow ... i've ran out of gas.

Thanks for your attention !

Flame away. :)

Good man, thanks for sharing, it's like you read my mind, I saw you reference "your" fit in that C&P thread and was going to ask but it didn't seem like the appropriate place.

This isn't the ganking fitting i was talking about.

Do you want a thread about that one too ?
(it'll be in this subforum)

I see, yes please, any additional insight you can provide on how you "do it" will be appreciated.

The amount of care and joy for his craft that is evident in the first post makes me want to fit out a Thrasher according to his specs and go be this wild, awesome pvp'ing ***** from hell instead of the timid, slow-learner stand-on-the-sidelines old woman that I am. Skills! Train faster! It will not do to gank anyone in anything less and my current Thrasher is such a noobship.

That Seems Legit

I had a blast with fits like this in rvb. I tried rail cats and beam coercers but nothing was as fun as the thrashers.

I think I met you once or twice blinking around gates flying ruppie stripping frigs with alpha shots. But maybe it wasn't you? Or maybe it wasn't ruppie? :)

That really depends on who is "awful" :)
