Back in ’99 it wasn’t too bad. We had The Matrix to counter balance the awfulness of this film and now it’s coming back?

Dear lord why?

And they are going to the release the other films as well. It’s like George has got the characters in some kind of long term hibernation and keeps reanimating them and putting a new outfit on them for his own personal theater of cruelty.

I mean…haven’t these films with all the merchandising earnt him enough? Isn’t it something like 6 billion dollars?

Can’t this guy think of anything original? With the money he has, he could hire the best writers in the world for 12 months and produce something close to cinema nirvana, but no – he just keeps rehashing the same thing forever.

His descendants will no doubt do the same. So even after he dies and goes to hell, his off-spring will continue to tie audiences to the milking table and perform cinema BDSM on us.

Bad writing is not improved by 3D, and neither is Jar-Jar Binks.

Better and definitely more funny then the movie.

The only way I might ever go back to a threatre to see SW again is if they did new 3D CGI for EP4,EP5,EP6. That's it, I don't care for garbage EP1 through EP3.

but pretty much now star wars is killlllled and pillaged over lego games and other garbage its just something that should rest in peace already.

The only way I go back to the theater for Star Wars is if:

-it's a new movie
-it's rated R
-the only involvement Lucas has is signing the ok for rights usage

And a 'lightsabre' was a tool used by some girls in some seedy clubs in a peculiar manner

Well, I'd be hard pushed to understand how the original trilogy would be improved by 3D CGI.

It is a good story well told, and the only reason I went to see the 'special edition' back in '97 was because it had new footage never seen before and it would also be a new print, on the big screen.

I didn't like the way they changed the ewok parade celebration ending of Jedi in the special edition - I kinda liked the original, with Luke standing in front of the big fire, giving his father a Jedi funeral - made sense. Adding the additional shots of the other celebrations seemed kinda weird.

If there was so much celebration, then surely people would have rebelled long before this point. Wasn't there something like 50 gajillion people on Coruscant?

And, at the time of watching the special edition, how were we supposed to know that the scene playing in front of us with the statue being taken down was actually Coruscant? We hadn't seen it before, so to me it was just a random planet, or a random city somewhere that had a statue.

Other than that, I did like the special edition, but when the DVD's came out and now the blue-ray, the additional changes made, with Empire Strikes Back and the 'Hayden shot' at the end of Jedi, just took it a tad too far...

Films in general do have problems when you put them together and have time constraints to release them, this is compounded with special effects shots. Other than releasing a directors cut for the home cinema market - directors should just move on and make something new.
