RL caught up with me a few years ago, so I've barely been able to play since then.

However, two of my friends and me have decided to go on a lowsec roam in Armor RR Battleships. I fly Amarr, and my friends fly Minmatar and Gallente.

Our general (probably badly thought out) plan was to have me in a bait, heavily buffered (180k ish) armageddon with 4-5 heavy neuts, a mwd, disruptor, 2 webs and 2 RR.

If I successfully engage, my friends who would be in a tempest (2 RR, less tank but far more dps, mwd) and a dominix (4 RR, less tank, ECCM, 2 Energy Transfers to help me neut, mwd) would then jump in and join the fight.

I'm sure there are a million and one things wrong about this, and I'm willing to admit alot of my eve pvp knowledge is probably redundant with all the changes brought about. So if anybody could give any suggestions on:

1) What ships we should use (Will have to stick with Amarr, Minmatar and Gallente unfortunately)

2) What we should fit

3) Tactics we should employ

4) What we should avoid

Any and all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

F1 is still in the same place, so don't worry.

The best way to learn is to try, screw up, and then keep trying. Over time you'll hopefully be screwing up a little less.

I would highly advise frigates, dessies or maybe cruisers for this learning experience as they are both cheaper and more likely to get fights. (+you can get into more FW plexes)

The days of RR Battleships are nearly gone.
EVE has evolved into 'frigates online' and most likely, your going to lose your ships to a 16 man kite/frigate gang.

At the least fit with that in mind. Webs, Scrams, TP, Tracking, Large Neuts, etc. Stuff that hurts small stuff.

Best tactic is to have a scout on the other side of your gates and pick your battles.
Don't stay in the same neighborhood for too long. Get some kills and move on.

With the new buff to crusiers and frigates, they are far more popular and dangerous than they used to be. My pick? I would train for Cerberus or Caracal with Rapid light missile launchers(Yes you herd me, light missiles for crusiers Shocked) since they have the best damage proyection and application at range (you can volley some frigates at full mwd speed without web.) Get an offgrid skirmish booster and use n cerberus + 1 arazu + 1 scimitar to make use of your superior range and tank the little damage you take.
This gang composition, including the recent HAC changes will be faster than most of eve ships, you will be able to project dps at great ranges(70km+) and you will sig tank tier 3 battlecruisers due to your mwd sig bloom bonus. In a few words, Cerberus is an OP crapstable, nano-sig tanked long range tracking ship.
The basic tactic would be, pick off tacklers, keep range, melt the stuff @ range.

Thank you all for all the suggestions and tips.

We're going to test different setups on sisi, and once we're familiar with the changes, going to have a T1 cruiser or frigate roam.

We expect nothing less than an absolute failscade, but hopefully we'll have fun and learn something.

Thanks again!

if you are planning to use battleships i recommend that you should study tactics that involve using new micro jump drive.
