There must be a special Japanese version of the "Oh, you!" meme...

That's really funny.

What is the Japanese equivalent of the West just tacking everything wacky to "Japan" as an adequate explanation for these sorts of things?

The Otaku?

This wheels within wheels must end with one individual! Evil

On friday and sunday they have lots of clip shows showing how weird we are.

A few weeks ago they covered the highland games and tractor pulls.

The japanese reaction was W T F are those weirdos doing.

I'm guessing it's was made by a local guy spoofing horse racing in Japan(?) Here's some background on that sport:

-It's a big gambling industry sport. Widely considered to be controlled by the mob, with rigged races, doping, all that. Racing scandals appear on the news fairly often.
-The patrons/bettors are almost all down-and-out blue collar gambler types.
-Except, some are young people out on a date. The guy's hobby is his car, and he spends most of his paycheck on it. On weekends, he takes his girlfriend or date on a drive (doraibu). Horse races are popular destination for doraibu outings, because admission is only about 2-3 bucks per person. The guy spends all of his money on car payments, gasoline, insurance, pricey annual safety inspections, etc., after all. He's got to find bargains. His poor girlfriend is always riding with him somewhere, then enjoying some freebie/cheapie fun once they get there.

Anyway, wild speculation here, but I'm guessing that that's some young person's spoof on how rigged and corrupt horse racing is in Japan.

I did not see that coming. I thought it was a glitch with that up-right walking horse, but then I saw the horse with the pompadour hair, and then I thought, "Oh, it's cartoony." Then all hell broke loose, and I was laughing my ass off.

Thanks for sharing that.

Watch this space.  New exciting signature in development.

Tad out of date i feel.

Lots of my guys bet on the GeeGees as its gone more upmarket whereas pachinko is going even more old man / working class.

Interestingly lots of japanese girls (anecdotal on my part)wish it was more like the UK with ladies day etc so they could dress up. They buy posh dresses for weddings and never have a chance to wear them again.

Also summer hats seem to be coming into fashion.

LOL, yeah, that might be a decade or more out of date. Smile And possibly localized to the Hiroshima area (where I lived) too. Generalizing about Japan is tempting but risky, really. It's not as homogenous as it might appear.

Good to see the Japanese completely annihilating the stereotype that they are completely frickin' insane.
