Using pics from other IPs on the EVElopedia?

Any idea on the policy of this? Was gonna put some pictures up from Google Images onto some of my EVElopedia pages, but they're from other IPs and/or may have copyright issues.

I'm guessing the answer is "no" (but linking to another site is fine?).

Isn't the issue of using material that has copy right protections only a problem if its used either cause harm to the IP holder or personal gain from its use?

Maybe I could just upload the stuff anyway. Worst that can happen is that an ISD removes them.

That makes sense. Maybe he wants to compare shipsizes from other SciFi IPs ...

Anyway:

imho, keep non-eve stuff away from evelopedia.

It would pose a high security risk, people would be easily be able to gather information about the users and exploit browser vulnerabilities. If the images are hosted on a server where the htaccess files can be modified, it's also possible to try and trick users into submitting their password to the remote site.

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

"Fair Use" should cover you, if you're not making money from it, or harming the IP. Just like writing a paper, or publishing an article (not for profit). You quote other sources, to illustrate your point, and site your sources. Right?

Perhaps uploading onto imageshack and link as such, rather than uploaded onto the wiki. Credit will be sourced and cited in all cases (when available, since some of the stuff has no details)
