Need some advice on l4 mission ships please.

Looking to get into battleship vessel of sorts.

Debating whether marauder or lesser battleship.

Can anyone help me out as to which Amarr ship would be the most beneficial in l4 missions and why?

Everyone talks about marauders being op but seems they would lack in dps a bit.
Would it be better to just go out in an Abaddon?


Then I hear peope mentioning heavy assault cruisers do pretty well...I'm confused :s

Also, I use lasers not launchers.

I wouldn't go for a marauder, as they will get a balance-pass at some point in the future (Fozzie has some "cool ideas..."). I would also avoid the Abaddon, as it's a cap hungry beast which is only good if you really need it's brick-thick tank, but I don't have much experience with lasörz to begin with.

However, if you have enough isk, the Nightmare is often refered to as the best lv4 laser-boat, so you might want to look into one.

I've thought of that but I've never trained any shield skills nor caldary skills...
I suppose I could try though, is it possible to armor tank the nightmare?
I'm not a fan of shields

In my opinion, shield is the gayness thing in this game after the drake...but god the nightmare is sexy at killing things. Skill your shield a bit, buy faction heat sink and shield booster (and faction tachyon if you can't use T2) and you will not regret it. If you armor tank your nightmare, please, tell us where you are so we can gank you.

also I don't think I'll be getting a nightmare, shields are just not what I enjoy.
I was hoping there would be an alternative to nightmare...

They're just level 4s, don't overthink it. Pick whichever Amarr BS you can fly that fits your needs, and go. Abaddon appears to be the tanky one, Apocalypse the more DPS one. No clue how either actually flies, but like I said, it's just level 4s. Hop on the test server and see which you like the best.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I was just hoping to get some advice but seems they all point to nightmare.
I can fly and afford any of them so its not an issue,,,just was wanting to not waste time trying each out just to find out later I was doing it wrong :p

Guess I'll just buy one of each and test it out heuheu

It is known that nightmare will be best if you're a lazor pilot as far as efficiency goes but you don't seem concerned about that so fly them all and decide which you like best.

I use a domi but if I were to venture into lazor boats it looks like apoc is the way to go if you don't want to use a Nightmare as gank should be your tank in lvl 4s.

nightmare and paladin are both great ships. nightmare is a bit more flexible while keeping its dps (and all the TE/TCs!), plus the built in tracking bonus. and paladin is my lazymode ship; omnitanked, effectively cap stable (2 cccs and a cap recharger, thanks odyssey!), and still does 1k gun dps.

Chainsaw can I ask what you use as far as drones?
I have not flown a bs to do missions yet and don't want to get ****** by frigs,,,are tracking computers enough to handle them or should I just use med sentries?
