So pretty much I would like to hear some of the more interesting stories of scamming from newbies or vets that have been here for a long time

You know what? You usually only hear about successful scams. How about the scams that went wrong? What about that guy that infiltrated a corporation, only to actually like the people in the corporation and end up helping them? I wonder about those cases sometimes. How about the number of jita scams that DON'T work? Sure, there are always some chums, but my faith in humanity, ever so sparse, still remains.

The overwhelming majority of Jita scams don't work. I scam a lot in Dodixie (mainly to pass the time while doing other things) and do not get many takers at all. If it weren't entertaining I wouldn't do it.

Why people's deceptive actions in a PVP game where deception is allowed causes you to question your faith in humanity is beyond me. I dislike violence in real life, but when I sit down to a chess game, you bet I will be butchering every pawn, bishop and knight I can. And in the same fashion, IRL I detest people that prey on the weak because it causes real suffering. In game, it does not (apart from the odd person who cannot distinguish RL from a game, but those people should be seeking professional help rather than playing video games).

Deception is a significant part of most EVE PVP, even in-space shooting ships PVP (as opposed to market PVP). Just think of baiting - it's no more and no less deceptive than "oh hai I r quitting EVE and will double ur ISK".

Actually, from a psychological point of view, people who enjoy scam inside eve ussually have some connecting tendencies in real life. An unlived fantasy needing to be fullfilled and the likes.

So maybe stop deluding yourself. If you could scam someone in IRL and get away with it, without that person coming to your home with a chainsaw to murder you, you would. And that's the beauty of EVE. Nobody can take any legal or illegal action against you after the scam has taken place, because there is NO SUCH system in EVE.

The character does not represent the views/opinions of its Corporation or Alliance.

No, I wouldn't. When I worked at a company IRL that did all sorts of things to scam its customers, I blew the whistle publicly because stealing from the elderly is utterly against my conscience. Cost me a reasonable job but it was the right thing to do.

Using deception to outdo a rival in a game, however? Not against my conscience at all, whether it be in chess, EVE, or any other game.

You just made a stupid and very undocumented accusation there... I wouldnt mind scamming with an alt in game, I would never ever scam in real and I hate people scamming in real. (including people who live on welfare to be able to play computer all day and live for my hard earned money!)

From a psychological point of view, you're having an issue distinguishing the difference between real life & fantasy, which is an actual disorder.

You misunderstand. The scammers I adore, they are humane in every sense and quite clever at times. I worry for those who fall for them time and time again and question not themselves, but others. By all means, continue what you do!

It's a numbers game. Most people won't bite, but sooner or later, someone will. More scammers means fewer bites per individual, but greater numbers of bites overall. Indeed, the sheer white noise of it all helps to confuse potential victims.

I've never bitten on a trade hub scam (yet!), but I've come close a couple times. I *have* found legitimate deals in amongst the trash, but none are the windfal bargains that the scammers present. Just slight price breaks, or neatly-assembled packages that make fitting a ship or building one more convenient. But check the fine print carefully, most especially including prices and deliver stations!

Psychology is not a science.

Also, people who never dared to think a bad thought IRL have a small mind. Thinking isn't doing, mind.

Indeed, if one has never had a bad thought, can one be said to be 'Good?' 'Innocent,' perhaps, but not 'Good.' 'Good' requires knowing temptation, and rejecting it.

Also, why are you claiming that winning at chess implies that you have some deep seated regicidal tendencies?
