Soloing in Widow

Thinking of soloing in the Widow, will have an alt to open covert cyno though.

This is my tentative setup:

Highs

1 x Syndicate Cloaking Device
1 x True Sansha Large EMP Smartbomb (for drones)
1 x Covert Jump Portal Generator
4 x Torpedo Launcher II

Mids

1 x Domination 100MN Afterburner
1 x Shadow Serpentis Warp Scrambler
1 x Phased Weapon Navigation Array
1 x Sensor Booster II - Scan Resolution
4 x Dread Gurista Multispectral (9.3) / (10.7 w OH for 2 minutes)

Lows

1 x Damage Control II
3 x Dread Guristas Ballistic Control System

Rigs

2 x Large Particle Dispersion Augmentor I

Ship is glass cannon, only 33,354 HP but it had smartbomb for drones and should be able to lock a ship down nicely. Has 1077 dps without OH'ting (missile hardwirings implants included).

Think this is viable for ganking in null. Now I know you'll say its way too expensive, its a fleet ship however isk is not an issue and I'm currently using a 2 billion isk Proteus so its about the same cost, if you have isk why not use it, and I don't fleet and I think this will kick ass unless help arrives.

Edit: My targets will be faction ratting BS / BC in deep null sec hubs.

What do you think?

You may get to kill a ratter BS or two but, overall, I think your intended targets will endup thanking you for adding your solo widow to their kill list.

If that’s how you like using your copious amounts of isk then, by all means, go for it.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Yeah likely but I don't really care about kill mails or who has them on me, if it excites them then I'm happy for them. But what do you think of the capabilities of the ship, in a 1 v 1 or 1 v 2 situation.

Or maybe Sin

Highs

1 x Dread Guristas Cloaking Device
1 x Covert Jump Portal Generator
2 x Heavy Energy Neutralizers
3 x Electron Blaster Cannon II

Mids

1 x Domination 100mn Afterburner
1 x Shadow Serpentis Warp Scrambler
2 x Federation Navy Stasis Webifiers
1 x Dark Blood Medium Capacitor Booster
1 x Sensor Booster II

Lows

2 x Drone Damage Amplifiers
1 x Damage Control II
1 x True Sansha Armor Explosive Hardener
1 x True Sansha Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
1 x 1600mm Reinforced Steel Plates II

Rigs

2 x Trimark II

Ogres II's
Warrior II's

This gives 1k DPS, 100k EHP (69, 60, 66, 74). AB and 2 x 60% webs are for GTFO out ability and neuts drain 50 cap per second. EHP and DPS include slaves and gunner implants.

This probably better then Widow given its tank and nueting?

You are right in saying that if you have the isk why not. It is a video game have fun with it.

Only input i can give though is go with the widow. It may be hit miss with the jams but i feel like it would work better overall compared to the sin.

Thanks. Also I have never used a covert cyno so whats the deal with it. From what I understand you can deploy it cloaked? It doesn't show up on system wide but it shows up near your target or nothing shows up? Your ship is stuck in place and can be probed?

It does not show up like a normal cyno but you have to be uncloaked and are therefore scanable

The covert cyno doesn't show up on the system-wide overview, and its cycle time is one minute as opposed to ten for a standard cyno (cut in half if you use a recon ship, I think). The only other differences are the limits on what ship types can use it as a target, and the only-partly-relevant fact that the sound and visual effects of a covert jump aren't as noisy as a normal cyno jump (which might be relevant if your target is head-down with tunnel vision, because a standard cyno jump effect will cause a gigantic flare and nearly blow your ears off).

Sin is better, because you need to kill before reinforcements come. However, the recon cyno won't help when you strike at the target in an anomaly. This makes the concept of cyno ganking a bit troublesome as compared to just zooming in with a gankboat.

The blackops battleships are supposed to be getting the tiericide very soon, could mean some changes to both of those ships.
Personally I prefer the Widow, but I couldn't really say what would be more effective. Also it is possible that ratting ships in (guristas?) space that Jam, might have ECCM's fitted.

Go with a Sin with nuets.

A faction bs ratter in null is going to have a high active tank and its going to take a while for a widow to kill him. If you want to apply that 1k dps on the widow , you're gonna need a TP and web.also shoot at his resist hole.

For a neut Sin,you kill his tank a lot faster with the nuets and heavy drones. You want to get inand out before friends arrive, and a widow won't do that.

Yeah I think I'll go with the Sin. Feel more comfortable with extra 75k EHP anyway. I was planning on dropping the cyno with a Tengu with 100k buffer, scram, web and 2 TP's but it seems a bit overkill. Probably just use throwaway buzzards.

Thanks for comments.

Why the covert cyno? You can't use it. It does nothing for you.

Also, I'd forget the AB and fit a MJD. Either you use it to sit 100 off a belt and pounce down on your foe, or you use it to GTFO. These days, a BLOPs without an MJD is deficient.

I, too, would go for a Sin. 425 rails and Gardes get 1350 DPS at range. Range is good. The preceding poster's Sin fit is ridiculous.

Myself, I prefer to solo gank on JB's with a Panther, arty all the way brutha. Fit described in a schnitpoast on my blog.

Yeah lol. Should have been portal generator. I have a Tengu alt to drop covert cyno for the Blops.

I don't like using modules that become 100% ineffective if you get scrammed, everyone and his alt has a scram these days. With the AB, and double webber I can get out of scram range pretty quick.
