Oh I don't know. In a pique of curious EFT warrioring I made a nice AFK laser POS-bash Dominix, cap stable at 875 dps that was unrigged in case it was blown up. God I need to start trimming down my EFT fits.

T3 Cruiser, lol.

What a strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I'd have to say the Hurricane would be a good bet in that direction.

This. It's my go-to ship.

A carrier. It can rat, it can mission (ungated), it can pvp both as dps and as logi (same time too) and it's even a superb hauler. You could also slap a bunch of mining drones in it too but I suspect that wouldn't be as efficient as pretty much anything else with a mining laser.

+1 vote for the Dominix, with votes cascading from there to any of the “mini-domi” ships (Ishtar, Myrm… even Vexor).

This is a tough kinda question. If you are talking about a versatile ship in terms of many roles, I would agree the popular drone boats fit the best (domi, Ishtar, Myrm etc). By freeing up the slots for utility they can be fit a multitude of ways without sacrificing DPS.

In terms of a ship that can do many things without refits, I would go with the same.

For a ship that can be refit to fill many roles well, I'd tip towards the T3 Cruisers. For example a T3 with scanning subsystem will scan better than an Ishtar, at least without breaking rigs constantly. But an Ishtar will likely go from scanning down a site to running it, salvaging it etc without a refit better than a T3.

[edit]

And if I had to pick just one I would go Ishtar. It has the DPS of a Dominix, but sized like a cruiser so it could go more places.
