Cheap attraction, less content for EVE. No matter how it will be linked it won't be too fun.

I was at fanfest. I played EVR. It was literally the most fun I have ever had while clothed and seated.

You are talking out of your backside.

I can confirm this. EVR represents the most enjoyable 9 minutes (I went back three times) of my gaming career, easily.

As for all those saying "No platform schenannigans", don't worry. The rift doesn't support anything other then windows at the moment. It can't be shimmied into a console, at least not yet. CCP have, at this point, no choice but to develop it for PC.

You *do* realize that you don't own the game, yes? And that CCP is in business to make money? They'll do what they feel will work best, and that your mispolaced sense of entitlement will not sway them in the least? Right?

OK, now that that's settled; Deal with it. You don't like it, I suppose you can always go play Star Citizen. Oh, wait...

Me, I'm quite happy to have CCP trying new and potentially awesome things. Maybe they'll work, maybe they won't. But if Valkyrie fails, at least it fails in its own silo, and EVE will remain.

Of course we have a say. We're investing in the project. Eve isn't a free game. If what you say is true and the CCP doesn't listen to its player base eve will die. The details are up to CCP how they create this game yes. But the players input helps CCP direction and keep CCP in line from forgetting what eve is about.
Uh-huh. I see. So - can I haz your stuffs? Oh, wait.. you're NOT leaving, you say? That's what I thought.

Your petulance matters not at all to CCP.

No. We have no say in how CCP spends its money since we are not CCP investors and they have no responsibility to make us any money. We're just customers paying for their EVE Online service.

The only say we have is in how we spend our money. For instance, if we feel that the EVE Online service is no longer worth what we're paying for it, we can stop. That is the sum total of our input in CCP's investment and exploration decisions.

I heard you have to buy this and the collectors edition to open the captains quarters door.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I never imagined CCP would force them to buy or even play EVE Valkyrie, but since that seems to be what you're "hinting" at, I imagine You also have some proof of your claims, no? Lol

EDIT: on the other hand I'm still slightly drunk, so I might have missed any signs of humor or sarcasm at the first reading. Lol

The only way a community could ever have a real say in a game's development is if they were programming it themselves open source style. Maybe some day we will do that in EvE... but something is going to have to come along... another game (open source or open source components)... to shake off EvE's player base. There have been a total of two times since I started playing when CCP really perked up and listened (or rather, panicked). T-20 finding out devs were giving certain favorite alliances T2 BPOs (for which he was banned), and of course Incarna. Those were the only two times when EvE's future was really in jeopardy. Other than that, CCP's thinking will be "why rock the boat?" They have data and statistics to prove we are way too loyal a fanbase to listen to (in the way some here are talking about... they are always fishing for good and easy ideas). There's no need to panic. Go along to get along, until something better comes along. Then your voice will be heard, and not before. P

Seems like the reception is positive, I think it is a little fast-paced but that isn't a bad thing. It is just quite contrary to EVE really. The only thing I am wondering is: how will it effectively get put into the EVE universe? Dust 514, in my opinion, still hasn't really connected with EVE. It is pretty cool seeing them type in a chat, or pop up in local, but besides FW, their interaction is limited.

And having people control bombers? I dunno... would they enjoy structure shoots??

Yet.

Look, I joined EVE about a month before Red Moon Rising, and since then it's grown and become something much greater than that. RMR turned EVE into a much bigger and more complete game than the first release version from 2003.

In the time since I joined this game, it's grown to include tech 2 ships, capitals, exploration and scan probes (since improved upon), the current fleet system, nine regions, wormhole space, six battlecruisers, four destroyers, the sov mechanic, bombs, overheating, TWO graphics revamps, heavy interdictors, electronic attack ships, black ops, marauders, jump freighters, Factional Warfare, Orcas, medals, Tech 3, epic mission arcs, sov overhaul, PI, Incursions, the Nocits, new avatars, CQ, fuel blocks, missile launchers, overhauled wardecs, mercenary marketplace, EWAR effects bar, new bounty system, crimewatch, the Venture, safety, revamped hacking...

you get the point. And that's not an exhaustive list.

Dust was formally released a mere three months ago. I know it feels longer than that because of the whole "open live beta" thing, but any complaints about the integration and completeness of DUST need to take into account the fact that it was only actually released on May 14th of this year, and it's only August now. 3 months. It's yet to have its first real expansion, let alone its equivalent of RMR or Apocrypha.

So it's hardly surprisng that DUST "still hasn't really connected with EVE" - it's a wailing newborn! However much bonding you can do with a three month old infant, you're not going to go fishing and drink beer with them for a few years yet.

What, another shooter??

A stupid FPS (4 years of development, based on a third party engine and still not finished, but never mind...) already faild before the release.
A spaceship shooter (done by CCP employees in their free time, just for fun, lol)
What else from the 10 years epic fanfest? Ah yes, merchandaising, a TV series based on EVE, maybe comics books.

When will we see the CCP focus back on EVE?

Damn: you were gifted and created a great, unique MMORPG with no competitors, stay and invest on it. How many fails one needs to collect?

I was watching the trailer.. And is this going to be a twitch game where you actually have to aim? Because from the looks of the video it seemed like the person was firing but really didn't have the target in sight but still killed it....

You shoot your regular weapons using a standard boresight reticle, but you also have missiles that are tied to where you look, so you can lock on to off-axis targets and blow them up that way.

I understand that but from the video some of those kills didn't look like they were from locked on missles..
