EWAR as a solo boat?

I recently started a thread in the Warfare section about solo PvP. Sorry in advance for offending a lot of people, but group PvP in any MMO is just not my thing. I don't use Vent/ TS/ etc. I'm older than a lot of fellow gamers, and I've just had my fill of 16 year olds screaming commands or insults into my computer speakers. When the topic of conversations focus on "yo mama" jokes, how much weed they are smoking in their blunt, and "OMFG KILL THAT GUY NOOBS!!!" chat, that's just not my thing. Lol ...So solo PvP is it for me for the most part. I've been responding to real life emergencies for longer than most internet gamers have been alive, so when someone gets all jacked up over a computer game, I go my merry way. If I could find a corp full of 30-50 year olds I'd join it in a heartbeat and even give TS or Vent another shot. Before I overly offend anyone, I'm well aware that some 45 year olds are tools, and some 14 year olds are mature. But I also believe in generalizations.

Anyways, sorry for the rant, now back to my thread. So focusing on solo PvP play in low/ null sec, would a stealth bomber or EWAR boat be a decent thing to build skills towards? It seems like survivability and "living to fight another day" would be quite possible for either of these types, but I'm still very new to the game, so I'm not sure.

I can see the idea of sneakily worming my way through enemy territory or jamming up electronic systems to be right up my ally, if those things are feasible with a solo play-style. I've never been overly concerned with pew pew DPS in any game. I get a lot more enjoyment out of keeping other people from killing me (read prot pally/ disc priest in wow, sniper in MW 3, sneaky character in fantasy MMO's, etc.).

Your best bet is : Pilgrim or other recon ships...

You will be cloaked so you can avoid unwanted engagements.
Especially pilgrim has a great ability called tracking disruptors and neuts which will shut down local tanks pretty quick. Ok in the day of ASBs it might be problem but if you are neuting them hardners and guns (ofc if using cap) will shut down pretty quick too.

Solo PvP is kinda hard to achieve in 0.0 just because of intel channels. When you enter realms of a semi decent group, lots of alarm rings will go off... But you can get lucky with random ratter or in NPC 0.0. Cloak will be invaluable to travel in 0.0 and avoid that certain gate camps. (You can still die to a decent camp btw Cloak is not a "jail free" card)

In lowsec you can camp random medium FW plexes by sitting cloaked. If they warp to plex you uncloak, kill, change system, rinse and repeat... Randomly you can be killed by gangs but hey that is the fun part :)

Pilgrim tactic : Especially for low sec put AB, orbit tight, neut fast first, then keep a small neut on target to drain little juice it generates. Don't waste medium neuts after the initial attack, as you need cap too. Send drones to kill it. Don't forget tracking disruptor. You will be nearly invincible against large turrets and small turrets.. You need to use range script for small guns, tracking disrupt for large guns. Any frig coming in your 12km neut range will never leave there alive unless he has like gazzilion other friends pounding you...

Keep your target in 9 km. Use scrambler and web and cap booster. Also if you have a command ship alt use it. I think sig radius bonus and armor resists would be great.

You can try this with other recons too but neuts are great game changer and your best bet for solo pvp if you ask me.

Thanks for the very informative reply. A week ago it would have been like reading greek, but I've been doing a lot of reading up on this over the last few days and I actually understood 80% of what you said. I'll read up on the parts I didn't. That definitely sounds like a fun build though. I'm not a huge fan of drones, but whatever, I can make it work.

The corp I'm in fits the age bracket you were on about,I'm its youngest member by a bout 10 years at 26,
we are currently carebaring around high sec though for the most part at the moment as we train twords something larger, Soo I doubt we are the kind of corp you are looking for(I saw your other post so is say mining and missions would bore the **** off you)

All EVE players are actually old farts. Source: all comms I've been on during the years I've played.

Aye it's true. Especially when you get to nullsec, imho. If you don't want to pay so much for a pilgrim, consider the pilgrim's little brother, a sentinel! It can do what a pilgrim does, is a little squishier due to frigate hull, but can kite just as well and tracking disrupt. Follow the instructions above, but for a pilgrim, and you should be good. Stick with smaller targets however, frigates to cruisers, or just bring friends.

[Sentinel]
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer
Damage Control II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Warp Disruptor II
Small Capacitor Booster II
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I
Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I

Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Egress Port Maximizer I

Acolyte II x4
Hobgoblin II x4
Warrior II x4

Kite the target, stick around 15-18km away from it. Your drones will do low damage, but don't worry about that, he'll die eventually. Be sure to take enough nanite repair paste with that aar. If target aims for your drones use tracking speed instead of optimal range disrupt. If he brings friends burn out and run away.

I checked evepraisal and 1 sentinel will cost you about ~38 mil. 1 Pilgrim is almost 150mil. That means you can almost buy 4 fitted sentinels for 1 pilgrim hull! Amazing! What a bargain!

This post is in memory of my pilgrim "dgasdgioj". RIP (that cost 200mil! 5 sentinels! ;) ).

I'd start off with T1's though, to see if it fits your style. Afaik the T2's are being revamped, although there's no known date for when this revamp will go live yet.

As a side note check out the corp I linked below if you are serious about an over 30 corp.
