NRDS and 0.0 (outside Providence)

So, I'm relatively new to pvp. I shot and blew up some guy the other day, my first solo ever and the guy just lost it all over local. He was moaning about "NRDS" and that I was "going to get mine", etc. Being a newb to PvP, I had to Google what NRDS was... And then apologized to the guy.

I later found out that NRDS usually only applies to Providence because it's CVA's policy and a CVA controlled area. I was probably 20 jumps away from any CVA system / Providence. This guy wasn't in CVA either... and apparently everywhere else in 0.0 is NBSI.

Needless to say I'm confused.

Are there more NRDS systems? How does a pilot know if he's in a NRDS system when he's outside of Providence? If like to obey the NRDS policy as I'm not an "outlaw" but I also want to PvP...

Congrats on your kill

Retards get mad when you blow them up. This one is just posturing

You shouldn't care about NRDS unless you're part of CVA

Keep blowing people up!

Congrats on getting your first solo kill.

Not that being red to CVA matters but are you sure you weren't in their space? The most recent kills and losses on your killboard were nearby (I think they also consider southern Derelik to being to them for some odd reason).

Funnily enough, there's no kill present on any boards anywhere where you wouldn't have between 6-30 people in the fleet when you killed someone, so it's quite surprising you're talking about a "solo kill" :)

You can read more about NRDS on CVA's page and most people living in the greater Providence area use NRDS everywhere.

But just so you know. Affiliating yourself with corporations/pilots already KOS to Providence, makes you red too. ;)
Just thought I'd point it out before you find yourself blown up in Providence and calling out how CVA doesn't respect their own NRDS rules.

The character does not represent the views/opinions of its Corporation or Alliance.

You have the right to attack anyone you want in the game, but that sometimes has consequences.

Time will tell whether your opponent has the capacity and desire to inflict consequences upon you.

Doesn't NRDS stand for "Notably R3tarded, Definitely Shoot", or have I just been terribly mistaken all this time?

Most of Great Wildland are NRDS except 7Q

So there is a larger community out of CVA Space NRDS.

Also NRDS has nothing to do about Space or where you are, but the Rule Of Engagements each Corporation and alliance run by.

Because you are NRDS and in null, doesnt mean people wont shot you, so if anyone complain about that.. welll.. then they should move to Empire.

Iv flown under NRDS for two years, doesnt mean i dont fight or kill people, i just mean i shot people marked red to my alliance or engage me first.

I forgot to say you dont have to care if people are NRDS, NHDS or NBSI, as long as you know what RoE you fly under.

The NRDS guy you killed should be happy, now he have another Red to his list which he can kill, without breaking the RoE he fly under.

Funny how people automatically think that I've provided my API to any online killboard... I haven't. The only kills that are on Battleclinic are of people with whom have provided API. If you and your counterparty both don't have an active API set up with Battleclinic (or any other board), then nothing gets posted. I guess some people don't understand this very simple idea.

As for where I was - I was in the Great-Wild Lands, which is pretty far away from Providence. As it turns out, Providence is widely known to be CVA and NRDS. I respect that. But this kill did not occur there.

The guy I blew up offered me a place in his corp afterwards... I'm still thinking about it, but I don't want a revenge kill. ;p

From what I can tell, "no", everyone is grey unless they are added to the KOS list (as per CVA's website). "Grey" means that they'll leave you alone.

The problem is that the list is half a decade old (maybe longer) and, consequently, individual pilots, corps and/or alliances can be on there from legacy issues that occurred years ago. Unless you do something explicitly against CVA's policies, then you're not on their ****-list.

Come to think about it - if you're in 0.0, then you should be thinking that any pilot is coming for you - so it doesn't really matter any way. The whole NRDS is just a way for CVA to exploit 0.0 resources while creating a certain level of security by banding together. I'm not sure what this level of security is... as I'm a noob and I'm just going off of what is written in the forums. (Older player - correct me if I'm wrong)
